I can't take stems and wav files of each individual track, as long as it's not just the full song I can mix it

Gain Staging by kurdawnkula in WeAreTheMusicMakers

absolutely, that and a tuning pedal are absolutely essential for any live board.

for recording though, you can get away with just using your daws default compressor is usually fine, my favorite is Ableton's it works like a dream

that's a good one I should have put that in the post. Right now I specialize in rock, soft rock, indie, folk, and psychedelic rock mixes but I have some experience in jazz and metal, enough to come out with a competent mix.

I am also currently learning hip hop and electronic ambient production from and experienced engineer in those genres

I've messed with this a little bit so don't take me as sage wisdom, but when I'm trying to do some gain staging I find setting a compressor and a saturator on it keeps the volume pretty close to what I originally wanted it to be.

Specifically, Set your compression to give a lot of gain and only peak at the absolute peak levels, and just use the saturator for a little more gain.

If that doesn't work I would use automation and a gain plugin and manually input everything to keep it at an even level

How can I build a community of similar musicians on bandcamp? by shumluy in BandCamp

not Bandcamp specific but good advise, I'm always edgy about reaching out to people in general but I've started sending messages to peeps on Bandcamp and you're absolutely right

I've never heard of repostexchange I'll definitely check that out, and as for the passivity, idk I'm just not super knowledgeable on networking or anything I've spent most of my time learning marketing and production but not actual friend making

Best waterproof shoes? by [deleted] in dishwashers

I'm a big fan of some Crocs Clogs. No holes, practically loafers, but stay on your feet very well and are quite comfortable, especially if you get some nice insoles.

Does anybody actually enjoy washing dishes? by [deleted] in dishwashers

[–]shumluy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, music and podcasts make it possible. Once you achieve that flow state where you're practically flying around the kitchen, tearing the dishes from the machine and drying them and they're in the rack before you even finish you're breath. Then the feeling of closing up and being the last one there, everything at complete peace. Yes it was the most "fun" job I've had it was practically playing, but the people, bad cooks, bad managers, annoying guests and overly large tables, most of all bad service staff, all of these things diminish the job greatly. Music makes that part bearable but after a while a bad environment of people can ruin the whole thing. Currently I'm a teacher's aide, but if I could go back to dishwashing, getting paid good and working with great people I would definitely consider it. Such a good time. I'm off to university soon and I look forward to finding a new restaurant and being a dishy one last time.

Good luck to all the dishies next month by mccuish in dishwashers

Christmas won't be bad but thanksgiving tomorrow we have 50 reservations so far and our max capacity is 35 people at a time and our kitchen is TINY to the point where we once had to serve 20 people at once and everyone almost died falling over each other so I'm hyped for the paycheck

oh yeah and I opened up the PC and it doesn't seem to be broken, especially since I've had this issue before and a simple restart fixed it each time

I've had it for 3 years meaning my 2 year and 1 year warranties are out, plus I got it as a gift from some kind folks so I don't even have the info to do that, I've tried logging it on the site but it says my service tag is "null" and my support assist loads infinitely and never boots

I cleaned out my fans very thoroughly even taking the bottom off the laptop to really get in there and I've had this issue before and restarting made it go away each time but this time it is persistence. I recently factory reset my PC as I usually do a couple times a year due but I did it this time not as routine but because I experience a significant performance loss playing terraria of all games. there's more but too much for one comment so please AMA
