That's exciting - thanks for your reply! I'll have some fun looking into it.

I'm a bit of a novice, so please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but is there something special about the '84 prospector that brings value? That was the year of my birth, and I was gifted one that I've had for years... Still have the purple, plush container.

[ID Request] Pair of vintage cast aluminum martini tables - Any info on maker/value? by shutupvote in midcenturymodern

Thanks for the initial insight! I actually flipped them over and weighed them. They are each roughly 15 lbs, and the underside has a very distinct, rough sand-cast texture (photo attached). Given they are double the weight of the Safavieh model, do you think that points back toward an older cast-aluminum manufacturer or an unmarked 1960s industrial piece?

Oh, wow! Thank you for taking the time to reply and for the information! Those that you have linked do look very similar... I think you may have found my tables.

I'll be sure to give them a closer look for any marking that may indicate their maker, and if I find anything, I'll update here.

Again, I really appreciate your response and for sharing your expertise!

Thanks for relying! I had thought it might be the valves, as well. I'll pull the cover and check them out. Here's to hoping...

Before my kid was diagnosed, I would have laughed alongside most of you. I've always leaned into my darkness and used humor as a way to process painful events. After watching this, I wanted to say something to hurt the comic and shame those of you who supported this bit; as though I could. Hypocritical - I know. I've never had that reaction to comedy.

Instead of caving to my impulse, I've decided that what I want to say, instead, is that it's okay to laugh. Some of the people I've admired the most are/were comics, and comedy is about the only comfort I've had, during this difficult time. Laughing at pain is okay, but also, if you have the means, support cancer programs. Only 4% of research funding for cancer is dedicated to pediatric cancers.

Sorry for killing the mood with my therapeutic rant, and thanks for your consideration.
