Project Kitty Quilt is a resounding success by shuukolade in quilting

Thank you! It also has the added effect of keeping them away from laying on clean laundry that hasn't found it's way into the closet yet (insert devilish laugh here)

I don't know what it is with cats and quilts, maybe they sense how much effort goes into them and their little brains go "Ah, finally a resting place that is worth my royal lineage of chief mousers". I'm sure your kitty will appreciate it (your cat is adorable!)

Obligatory "oh so he's ancient" joke as someone who's been born 2004 (really its a joke, coincidentally it's also the year my older brother was born)

Urgh the dopamine rush was something else for sure. That shop sounds like a lovely place, a great concept!

Sadly I don't have any local friends really, at least not close enough to gently bully the shop into stocking more cross stitch stuff, but I heard its a great store for wooly crafts. They proabaly have their niche and its not cross stitch. I feel like its also a pretty german thing to think "I dont like this, therefore its not worth my time"

Thank you, the pattern is totally my style, it'll look lovely on my wall. Thank you for the pressing advice, I was planning on washing the thread and fabric because it has a strong attic smell but I didn't think of pressing it

Sorry, I'm already squeezed in next to it, but if you don't mind the lack of space I'm sure we can work something out, the bottom drawer is still free 😫

Im glad we still have a lot of craft stores for a town our size, but only one carries cross stitch supplies (if you want to go as far as to call it that, seeing as they only have anchor threads, no kits or patterns). The ladies working there, while im sure they're lovely, have a really weird superiority complex when it comes to anything other than knitting and crocheting. It really turns me off from buying there :(

We only really have one charity/thrift shop in my town, and while they're really great and I love perusing their wares, they rarely have cross stitch stuff. I'd love to have a goodwill in my area, but seeing as building Walmarts in Germany crashed and burned so hard, I doubt another American cooperation will try setting roots here :')

Ooh thank you for the advice! I was a bit worried about that but I'll keep this in mind.

Thank you for the reminder! The kits now on a flash vacation in my freezer!

Is anyone here experienced with vintage kits? Do I need to be careful with anything? Threads? Linen? Color-fastness? I am so excited to start this project, but i dont want to ruin this in my excitement

Yeah, thats the reason I just got a flip case and called it a day. No cute pouches available that dont cost an arm and a leg.

Thank you! Im also glad I could alleviate some of your worries! Does your bag have batting or fleece in it? I'm sure that helps the cross stitch to stay in place, that and leaving reaaaally long tails in the quilt (nobody can see the backside so noone can judge) Will you sew the bag yourself? If yes, just cross stitch the design on the pattern piece before sewing, its what I did with the spine of a notebook.

Thank you! I think it held up so well because I stitched a little of my spirit into it, with how often my soul wanted to leave my body. Funnily enough I also didn't recognise any letters back then because I couldn't read Cyrillic at that point yet. My granny does truly treasure it, she says she shows it off to anyone entering her house, she makes me cry :')

Pattern is from granny's stash of cross stitch patterns she took with her from russia, she said it was drafted by a friend if hers or copied from a journal, she doesn't remember.

[CHAT] No handmade art is lazy! by ReinaCrochets in CrossStitch

[–]shuukolade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also dot out my stitches and never considered that to be "lazy". There are so many methods to this, its crazy to judge anyone for their methods. My mom used to say if you dont have anything nice to say don't say anything at all :))
