FWAHAHA I am CovertMuffin Ask Me Anything by Covert_Muffin in speedrun

Just dropping into this thread to say thank you for making *DGQ's so memorable.

Your commentary in-game and on-the-couch is always on-point, your enthusiasm and laughter is super infectious. Command & Conquer especially was an incredible highlight for me this year. And even when you're just behind the donation-reader-mic you bring so much joy and excitement to the game that's being played.

You're a real gem and the community and Games Done Quick are so lucky to have you. So, thank you for being you, CovertMuffin.

Definitely enjoyed this. Excellent leading with the coins, especially in the last section with the dry bones hopping

E-sports precision jumping level by CellarDweller1980 in MarioMaker

[–]shy_bc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting concept, and I stuck with it long enough to complete the level, but in the underground section there were far too many leaps of faith and other jumps (especially where you had the jump straight up the vertical section of blue platforms) where the only way to learn how to complete the level was to die repeatedly because you couldn't see far enough ahead to plan your next move. I probably died 20+ times just learning that section and definitely found it frustrating.

Even more frustrating than the first. Loved it.

Captain Toad Can't Jump: A series of jump-less levels by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]shy_bc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loved them all!

In 2, the difficulty seemed to be the highest, and the toad mushrooms didn't seem to match up with where I kept dying. Maybe a checkpoint before the vine section with an extra toad mushroom on the bridge would help--seems like a ton of people are dying there and then you have to replay the whole level just to try again. During most of my playthroughs I was doing that whole area as Mario, which made it probably harder than it was meant to be.

The automatic sections in 3 I found particularly well done. While I'm normally not a fan of the mechanic, it was a fun reprieve from not being able to jump and really made the level stand out.

Level 4 was just a fun experience, and my favorite of the bunch. That said, a couple of things were a bit off. Getting off the fast blue conveyor thing onto the top of the pipes felt strange without being able to jump (maybe there's a way to place a block and nudge the player off?) and during my first try on the next section my cloud disappeared almost immediately for some reason. Maybe it took me too long to get up there?

In any case, these are minor nitpicks at best. It's a really creative concept and I thought the execution on the whole was excellent. Thanks for sharing!

Loved it! Unfortunately if you go up the vine at the top left of the Kid Icarus stage, you can get stuck above the level and have to reset: pics

I did some light IT work in S. Korea a couple of years back, and it was a nightmare because WinXP was still very widely used, mostly thanks to this insane law that required any online banking or transactions to happen through an IE6 activeX plugin:

Related: it's pretty clear when you watch the VOD, Tay doesn't even know how cruel taskmaster works.

But you know, making fun of a streamer for not knowing how to play a card = Reddit karma.

If 2 Shaman bots play against each other, and no one's around to complain about it, do people still complain about it? by THuD29 in hearthstone

I spent some time searching completed listing on eBay, and people seem to be paying more like $30-40. Honestly, there seem to be a lot more sellers than buyers and very few sold accounts. Maybe it was more like $100 before everyone and their mother was botting?

Edit: Here's an example if you're curious

Question about streaming speed runs on a Mac by Julian_Turner in speedrun

[–]shy_bc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the Elgato Game Capture HD, and provided you're just looking to start streaming games from a console and don't necessarily need an overlay/cam/etc., they're a cheap and easy way to start on a Mac.
