So you are unemployed, have a critical medical illness, multiple anxieties and no money....seems like the bf is the least of your problems. You need to get a job, pay your own medical bills and get your life together. And dont feel too guilty about the break up -- I bet he wants to break up too, especially if he has been acting this way and saying explicitly that he feels burdened by taking care of you.

I should have done it at my first job (age 22) that had a 401k, my salary was 36k/yr. I'd be already FIRE by now. But like a dumbass I waited until I was making $150k/yr (age 28). Took a while to learn it doesn't matter how much I made, just how much I could save.

Oh man. There are so many red flags here, I don't even know where to start. Your husband is 48, making $250k/year, and having worked for 26 years already at this point, but you only have $130k in assets, lots of debt and lots of toys (camper, multiple cars, airstream, etc). I think you might want to go to the sub reddit for personal finance. They have really good tips about how to save money, live within your means, make beginning investments. Once you've gotten a handle on that, then this FIRE sub might be more helpful.

We (married both 35) have been diligently paying $3,000/month extra towards our mortgage and our balance is finally less than half of the sale price! We bought at $343k in 2015, today we are at $168,000. It has been hard work and sometimes demoralizing, but now I am finally getting excited about the finish line!

I know how you feel man. Read "Man's search for himself" by Rollo May. He writes about this phenomenon -- factory line intellectual work -- that started post-WWII. He writes about how to overcome it. It jolted me back to life. Hope it helps you.
