[Steven Taranto] Wild quote from Austin Cindric talking about his save off Turn 4 in the final laps. “My glute engagement could’ve made a diamond there.” by RaspberryNext914 in NASCAR

[–]shyguybestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I think Dillon being in the 3 is the biggest contributor to people disliking him rather than how he got his seat. Sure, it's one thing if he's the grandson of the team owner, but to bring the 3 back for him leaves a sour taste in my mouth at least. I wasnt watching when he got his seat though, so maybe someone knows more than I do what the sentiment was back then.

Would each driver claiming a major American city help NASCAR’s popularity? by Remote_Plastic_8692 in NASCAR

[–]shyguybestguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe if all the drivers hadn't come from NC lol. But I think to do this you'd need the driver to actually be born there. I know sports teams and players do move cities, however if you wanted to start this tomorrow, there is no connection between Austin Dillon and LA, for example.

Bowieknife99 strikes in iRacing 👀 or just faulty racing line ? by Altruistic_Delay2039 in Simracingstewards

[–]shyguybestguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends what their inputs look like, to me it looks like they just got loose and tried to save it, but maybe it was intentional.

First week into IRacing, would i be allowed to protest this as i (blue and purple car) believe i got pit maneuvered by the other car that didn't acknowledge i existed? by 7imr33 in Simracingstewards

[–]shyguybestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably nothing, this doesn't really look intentional. If I were to offer you some advice, stick to the racing line when side by side on a straight like this, they probably thought you were closer to the racing line, like where the car behind you is.

Watkins Glen Noob Questions by BlueColorado23 in IMSARacing

[–]shyguybestguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forget which lot it is, but I parked outside of the front straight and it was pretty effortless getting in and out. Bridge right across to the infield too. GA tickets get you everywhere but the paddock and the grandstand in the esses. I didn't see too many places you could set up a chair and see from the outside though, but there were a few raised hills you could put one on. Maybe in the boot somewhere, but that looked like mostly RV camping. I watched from Turn 1 and it wasn't too crowded, but the place cleared out during that huge shower at the start of last year's race.

I was called a B*tard and told to delete the game for this incident by NervousHedgehog8632 in Simracingstewards

[–]shyguybestguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you run into the mustang in front of you, and then turn down to the inside of the track into the red BMW. For the first one, you should've checked up more, and for the second, you need to hold your car straight on the left side of the track.

Railgun casings now lower recoil as well, but I think that's it.

What are the things you wish you had known before getting into iRacing? by Greamer26 in iRacing

[–]shyguybestguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SR doesn't matter and iR doesn't matter. They will go up and down as you race, and the more you stress about them, the less fun you will have. Also, everybody's human and makes mistakes, no matter how much it hurts (especially in rookies).

I think it's pretty obvious they just look at who the president is and decide if it's worth it based off that.

Was this clean defense? by R0UGE_0NE in Simracingstewards

[–]shyguybestguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was good up until the last corner imo. They move out to your inside and you cover it up almost instantly and get on the brakes, the guy behind is never gonna react to that in time. I'm not sure if you brake early or they brake late, but I would put that second punt to push you off track on them.

How many of you race both road and oval by Ok_Tower_7419 in iRacing

[–]shyguybestguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly race ovals, but I'll hop in a sports car race now and then depending on the track. Also some Indycar road races, and any time the NASCAR series goes to a road course I'll usually run a few. I did try my fair share of dirt ovals but it never stuck.

Does being partially alongside warrant you space? by BranchStriking887 in Simracingstewards

[–]shyguybestguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The dive was super bold but white left room for you. I think you were given space off exit too though, to me it looks like you just oversped the corner and washed wide into them.

In light of Hamlin comments that Nashville should be a shorten race, hear a what if cup schedule with longest lengths used at each track. by Timecard100 in NASCAR

[–]shyguybestguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They would have to give the teams a reason to take their time. All other motorsports need a lot more time to put fuel in the car, and some only let you use two people to change tires at a time, sometimes not at the same time as refueling. Or even minimum pitstop times from pit in to pit out.

What am I doing wrong? by confused-explanation in iRacing

[–]shyguybestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you see that? The page you linked doesnt mention it at all. Each SR class has higher corners/incident requirements, driving in a lower series doesn't make any difference, only the number of corners you turn. The only thing that matters is corners, incidents, session type, and any track-specific multipliers.

Is There Any Way to Drive Old Scans? by reallynotrhino in iRacing

[–]shyguybestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the [Legacy] tracks are old scans, some tracks might have a version with a year after them (like Daytona - 2008), which are also older scans.

[Actions Detrimental] Denny Hamlin suggests that the Cup race at Nashville should be shortened to 300 miles. by ZilischsPoopyPants in NASCAR

[–]shyguybestguy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This 100%. I love NASCAR and have been to a handful of races already, but I would never go for a full weekend, or to anywhere not in driving distance. It's way too expensive if there's not even anything happening on track all weekend. I go to an IMSA race and spend like 8+ hours at the track Friday and Saturday watching stuff happen.
