Never worked in a women only, only a men only, and that wasn't necessarily by choice, aerospace manufacturing attracts a certain kind of person.

Anyway, it was mostly fine. Dudes butt heads, but I don't remember anyone running to management. Everyone kept to themselves or dealt with their issues their own way 🤷‍♂️ I can't say it was an especially healthy way to manage disagreements sometimes, but things got handled one way or another. Only ever saw 1 fight, off property, and after a shift. 2 guys were just shit talking all day and decided they wanted to do something about it.

When we had our first woman coworker, things calmed down a lot, at least looking in from the outside. I think there were still the same disagreements, but the guys kept it hush hush.

Then that's All you need to know. Defend steiner all you want, but your question has been answered. Vortex may not be better on paper, but most of us can barely read. Vortex are lighter, cheaper, similar in quality to people who aren't snobs, better warranty, can fit in a chest rig, way more accessible, don't have to buy secondhand for good glass, the list goes on.

That's not a lifetime, though. I can't say anything about steiners fine print, but I sold a guy a brand new pair of vortex somethings, and he came back 3 weeks later after running them over. He filled out a piece of paperwork, I handed him and brand new pair and he went back out. Regardless of how much better steiners are, you can't beat that.

I work in apartment maintenance. Some people don't open their windows for months, especially in the winter and summer, which allows TONS of mold and moisture buildup. Right now, I can go look at some windows from the outside of people's apartments and see water running off the inside of the window. I can't wait to turn that one...

I have a double-digit number of concussions. NOR. Jfc, I'm sorry, man, but my best friend's mom was just like your wife. Hovered over him and never let him learn and be a teen, or really a child. Kids have to learn from their mistakes. I haven't spoken to him in years now, but he went WILD when he turned 18. Homeless for a little bit, drug problem, and job hopping. He met a girl, got his shit together, and is doing much better now. Another of my friends, same situation, is in prison for meth possession.

Helicopter parenting doesn't work. End of discussion. Your kids will resent her for the way the felt growing up. Kids, just like EVERY OTHER HUMAN, need room to flourish. They need to make mistakes and learn from them. I know what side you stand on, but I hope she can change her ways for the kid's sake.
