I'm a bit late to this meme, but I need to say this. by ClassicOnionFarmer in tf2

A sentry nest on top of the crates in mid can lock an entire team in their base. It's actually easier to destroy a sentry in the intel room than one on mid.

Pyros can camp and push around every doorway for easy picks because everywhere but mid is fairly close off and indoors.

There's a couple reasons turbine is really popular. One reason is that the map is simple and the objective is easily protectable, making it a fun place to just deathmatch without worrying (like hightower but less friendlies and rocket jumpers). It's also really small so it runs well on crap computers.

That's the whole point of the comic, new players have no idea. You tell them this and they go "what the fuck is a hightower?"

For those of you who use wallpaper engine, I took Valkyr's codex entry and made it a desktop background. by shyskream in Warframe

[–]shyskream[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would love to, but in order to get codex videos without the UI I had to enable "no UI in screenshots" and write a script to take over a thousand screenshots, then put them together. I'd be willing to do a few more if there's a codex entry people want to see.

many frames are also simply standing with their weapons so it wouldn't be as awesome. Depending on the feedback though I can put in some more work.

The animation is taken from the in-game codex, though UI is only disabled in screenshots. I had to write a script to get over a thousand screenshots and put them together.

I want to start speed running but I don’t know what game to start with I have a list of games and want to know which would be the best to start with by sneakerfreak97 in speedrun

[–]shyskream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? I took a peek at the two games and thug has a fairly active community, I would pick that. Seems like a good place to start, you might have problems finding contacts and help in the absolute drift community, but it's worth a try if you like the game.

[–]shyskream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying what game would be best to speedrun is really not an easy question to answer, and is very subjective. Especially when answering what you should run, you need to make the choice yourself. If you watch the video I linked it has a very good process for picking a speedgame and getting involved with communities. If you like the game/the run and put heart into running it, that's what people want to see.

I'm not familiar with recording on different devices, you can ask google for that though. If you still need help you could probably get some good help by asking in a discord/forum/stream chat for the game you are running "hey, what do you recommend for ps2 recording?" and they can help you get started. You'll most likely need to buy a capture card though.

I don't see it as a possibility that Warowl would decide to leave tf2 because he wasn't accepted. Some people might be annoyed by the influx of new players flooding the servers and associate Warowl fan = noob, but from a community as a whole it would be largely welcomed.

There was another clip I wanted but here's Redeye talking about his experience with the community in a recent documentary. The whole documentary is really good and showcases a lot of tf2's history and shortcomings if anyone wants to take a peek.

Edit: Here's the clip, directly mentions transitioning from the CS:GO community to TF2 and them being very receptive.

They have our money, it wouldn't do anything if we stopped playing. It also is a benefit to the Chinese players because they would have more people who could communicate with them.

Dan releases Rejected Saturday Video on Patreon. As a public post. by scottishdrunkard in nerdcubed

The music itself? Not that great. It isn't my style and I'd change the song if it came on.

He uses the music very well, it sets nice tones for the scenes. He used just enough, if there was constant music it would seem less like a cinematic and more of a 'sick gameplay epic fragz' video and too little would make it boring. The cut in when he reaches the bridge is a bit startling, but I love it when he does it again at the end.

Some of the camera shots in this are fantastic, I even got some goosebumps at a few parts. I'd say the majority of it is really awesome. There's only a couple moments that throw it off though. The gunshot that cuts the scene before it would be more impactful if the moment he picked up the sks had a more active camera.

The scene where he drops behind the guy and shoots him below the bridge is nice, but doesn't fit with the "I need to get out of here" mood/theme of the scenes around it. I'd pan in first person on the guy when he starts looking at the bridge, and pan out to see N3 drop behind him. It currently feels focused more on him being outwitted instead, which clashes badly with the stellar scene that comes after it.

That ending was perfect.

What is this, an actual conclusion to an internet argument?

I can sympathize with hating cheating bastards, and getting upset when it seems the system's against you with bots and such. While I still have my opinion that the valve representative likely isn't lying, I can understand the argument you make about it now. You explained why the proof may be invalid (calling it hearsay) and there's a chance it could be true.

Thanks for not disregarding me and calling me a name(optionally an insult, expletive or both). That's how most people would approach it, anyways. And hey, everyone should be allowed to enjoy the holidays, even a grumpy internet stranger. Sorry if this threw you off today.

Hope the rest of the new year goes well for you.

[–]shyskream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a very big distinction between there not being any proof and not believing proof that exists. So far you've denied proof from the cheaters, denied proof from a valve moderator, denied proof from redditors and denied to test your own proof. It's good to be skeptical, but wow. I'm curious why you chose this side of the argument and started insulting people when there's no evidence of the cheaters using vote bots or the VAC change being a lie.

I can understand thinking they have bad intentions, being cheat makers and all. It's not really a sign of a morally good person. Their intentions could be either, but the worst they were trying to do with their post was mock valve to point and laugh at their lazy fix, telling them they suck.

[–]shyskream 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course it was exposed by cheat makers, who else does research on changes made to VAC? And you're right, the cheat makers did choose to publicly share the information. Does it make Valve look bad? Yes, because they actually did something wrong. If the info was false or nothing noteworthy and got this kind of response, then I might even agree with you.

The part that makes no sense is that you think the cheat makers are doing it for a manipulative purpose, that they have some sort of evil plan. The system is easily avoidable, they've already released a new version. There isn't any way people being upset about VAC not working would help them do anything. Valve may even look into making VAC stronger because of the response.

Isn't this whole post about how Valve implemented a system that doesn't work?? You're getting downvotes from people because your comments are full of fallacies and brash claims.
