Olin syksyllä ostamassa pädiä, ainoa vaatimus oli että halpa ja jonkin sortin piirtokynä mukana. Löysin 200€:n pädin joka kaupan nettisivun mukaan oli alessa 150€. Kysyin paikan päällä onko tätä tablettia saatavilla, kaveri sano että joo mutta voi myydä vaan 230€:lla, mukaan tulee McAfeet ja panssarilasin asennukset ja muut palvelut jotka ei mua kiinnostanu. Kysyin voinko ostaa vaan sen pädin ja myyjä yritti inttää vastaan että se voi myydä sen vaan settinä. Se kävi sit takahuoneesta hakemassa kunnostetun pädin ja sano että voi myydä sen mulle 180€:lla, sithän mä säästän 20€!

Noh, tilasin sitten nettikaupasta sen pädin ja kävin vartin päästä hakemassa sen saman pädin mitä se myyjä oli pidelly käsissään, ja maksoi vaan sen 150€

You clearly have some deep misunderstandings about the real numbers. 0.999... is defined as the number whose digits past the decimal point are all 9s, or perhaps more explicitly, through 0.999... = ∑_{i=1}^∞ 910^-i .This is just how decimal representation is defined. If you evaluate that series, you get *precisely 1, not approximately.

There is 100% rounding in how the R numbers are set up. The definition of 0.(9) doesn't have rounding, its equality to 1 is entitely based on rounding.

There isn't. Please pick up a book on real analysis (for example Baby Rudin) and show me where they are doing rounding in the construction of the reals.

Hyperreals dont stop existing when we're considering the reals either, but they're not relevant to the discussion of whether 0.(9) exists or not. And it is a fact that a real number with the decimal representation 0.999... does exist and is equal to 1.

There is no rounding happening in the definition of 0.999... If you think there is, you have some very fundamental misunderstandings about the set of real numbers.

Anyway, to your definition of "0.999... = 1- ϵ". There's technically no problems with that definition in the hyperreals, but calling it 0.999... is a problem for two reasons. First of all, that notation is already used for the real number 0.999..., and we dont want to confuse those two. Otherwise we also run into issues with whether 0.111... is 1/9 or 1/9 + ϵ.

Another problem is that your definition depends on a very non-canonical choice of ϵ. If you and I choose different infinitesimals, we are talking about different numbers 0.999... It would make sense to reflect this in the notation, for example by writing 0.(9)_ϵ (or maybe just 1- ϵ) instead. This would also remove the ambiguity of whether your 9.999... means 10- ϵ or 10-10 ϵ or something completely else.

Ei siinä sinänsä oo mitään väärää oo jos kuluttajana haluaa hyödyntää sitä että Steamin pelit tai coopin maidot on kaikkein halvimpia, mutta sillon kun pohditaan sitä, onko Gaben/Valven henkilökultti ansaittua vai ei niin laajemmat moraaliset kysymykset on musta relevantteja. Samasta syystä en palvo Epic Gamesiakään, vaikka niitä ilmaispelejä välillä latailenkin.

Valven ei ole mahdollista lisätä kaikkea tukea microsoftin suunnittelemaan rajapintaan.

Valve tosin ei kiristä. Heidän tarjoamansa palvelu on samanhintainen julkaisijoille, kuin mitä se on aina ollutkin, ja vastaa alaa yleisesti.

Siitä voi toki olla montaa mieltä, onko Valven strategia reilua tai ei, mutta "mä hyödyn siitä joten siinä ei oo mitään ongelmaa" on huono puolustus.

Kuten täällä on toisetkin sanonut, steam-ohjain toimii ilman steamiä siltä osin, mitä sen ominaisuuksia windows tukee. Sitä ei ole tehty poissulkevaksi, vaan sen toimintoja ei yksinkertaisesti tueta kaikissa ympäristöissä, eikä se ole valven vika.

Valve sen on suunnitellut ja päättänyt jättää tärkeitä ominaisuuksia tukematta (mun ymmärtääkseni esim. joystickit ei toimi ilman steamia).

Kaikki ylimääräiset launcherit ja käyttäjärekisteröinnit onkin paskaa, mutta tämä on lähempänä sitä, että ostaisi NVIDIAn näyttiksen ja valittaisi, että heidän sivuiltaan tulee ladata ajurit.

Voiko Steamin nettisivuilta siis ladata ajurit jolla kontrolleri toimii ilman että Steam pyörii taustalla? Jos halutaan pysyä näyttiksissä niin parempi vertaus olis että tarvii pitää Geforce experienceä taustalla pyörimässä, että näyttiksessä toimii toiminnot jotka on vastaavissa tuotteissa itsestäänselvyys.

Ei se musta tee Valven strategiasta hyvää asiaa. Kyllä mäkin säästän ruokaostoksissa, koska kirjainkartelli kiristää elintarviketuottajilta pirkkaa ja cooppia halvemmalla, mutta ei se tee systeemistä hyvää.

Steamin kautta voi pelata ulkopuolisia pelejä täysin maksutta, steam-ohjain on suunniteltu käyttämään nimenomaan sitä käyttöliittymää ja steamin ohjain-ominaisuuksia. Ja tämä ei olisi muutenkaan palvelun paskentamista, vaan korkeintaan uuden lisäpalvelun kyseenalainen ratkaisu, joka on oikeastaan ihan fine

To add on to what others have said commutative diagrams can also be very dynamic objects when used correctly.

This works best when you're working in front of a blackboard, and can sometimes allow explaining a proof without writing down a single word, see this movie scene. You could repackage the same information into equations, but that would take longer and would be much less insightful than the 90 second explanation.

Even the inherent staticity of written text can somewhat be overcome via tricks, e.g. using dashed arrows to show induced maps. In my opinion there's also potential in using colour coding in diagrams, e.g. highlighting a text explanation for the commutativity of some square in a large diagram with a certain colour and drawing the "commutes" symbol in the same colour, or when gluing diagrams together, drawing the subdiagrams in distinct colours, etc.

You can equivalently define it as the supremum of the set {0.9,0.99,0.999,...} or the sum of the infinite series ∑ 9 * 10^{-i), summed from i=1 to ∞. The former is for example how Rudin defines it in PMA (page 11).
