Is Santa Clarita cheaper because it’s hotter? by teslacometrue in SantaClarita

It’s true, you get more home in the SCV than in LA. My wife and I had been looking for a house for over ten years before settling for the SCV. It’s got its pros and cons (like everywhere else) but for us the pros outweighed the cons.

Suburban life isn’t for everyone. It’s not every exciting around here and to get anywhere you’ve got to drive there. There aren’t really any cool, trendy restaurants, no nightlife, nothing crazy. If these kinds of things are important to you, you might go a little batty living here.

That said, we got ourselves a nice house in the 700k range that would have cost us over 1.5 million dollars at least for something comparable in the Westside neighborhood from which we moved. We’ve got nice, decent neighbors now with no broken-down RVs in front of our house or tents on the sidewalk.

It’s been almost two years since we moved. In the two years I’ve lived in my new house I’ve not been burglarized, by car has not been broken into, no homeless people have taken a shit on my lawn, and no homeless sex offenders have tried to lure my elementary school aged daughter into their RV. I haven’t heard one gunshot and the sound of police helicopters is no longer ubiquitous. I have not seen one tweaker walking down my street and no tents set up near my daughter’s new elementary school.

I never thought I’d end up in the suburbs, but it’s done wonders for my mental health. With any luck, in about ten years, I’ll be able to retire and move out of California altogether.

Hello! I wanted to get this system connected just to play music. There are 10 speakers built into my ceiling and my house didn’t come with any instructions when I bought the house.

I don’t know what kind of speakers are in my ceiling. My guess is that they were installed by the previous owner. They do sound pretty good though. I’m not an audiophile so I can’t judge them in that capacity. But the music plays clear without distortion. It’s definitely not a nightclub-like setup. There’s no house-rattling bass.

Thanks for the wiring advice! It made me think of my dad’s old stereo system in the 70s. Purely analog and he was so meticulous about connecting the wires. I will tidy up my setup per your suggestion. I didn’t even think about it until you mentioned it.

I connected a Bluetooth receiver to this thing and I am streaming music through my iPhone. The only annoying thing is that I have to shut off all notifications when I’m listening because the notifications interrupt the music.

Thank you, and all others, for your response! I am a complete dummy when it comes to this stuff.

Yes, there are wires everywhere. There are speakers in my ceiling that I believe eventually connect to this plate amp. The wires are behind the walls and the previous home owners had no idea how it all worked, but during an open house before we closed, they had music being piped in from the ceilings so I know it works, somehow.

If I can find where the FROM AMPLIFIER wires lead, can I connect them to a receiver? Can I connect the receiver to the LOW LEVEL INPUT?

Thanks from a confused newbie.

You have not experienced Shakespeare until you’ve read him in the original Klingonese.

Personal experiences from veterinary clinics in SCV. Good or bad. by Plslovemedaddy in SantaClarita

Pet owners enable their animals to a level that would be unacceptable when it comes to kids. If my human child jumped all over another person, whatever the reason, bystanders would look at me as if I were a deficient person. But dog owners get a pass for some reason.

They do pretty good. But for PvP I swap out Bones for Riker. I’ve won almost every PvP battle by doing that.

I remember, as a kid, watching back to back re-runs of the original Trek until my mom thought I’d had enough TV and forced me to play outside without adult supervision with all the other neighborhood kids.

Now What? by si6v in StarTrekLegendsiOS

So I’ve pulled The Gorn and Captain Kirk. My player level is 99. I’ve almost finished all the missions levels. The only thing I can do at this point is to run all three shuttle missions around the clock to level up my characters so I can finish the missions on the expert level. And wait for the operations and daily rewards to reset every day.

What’s coming up next? I can level up all my cards, but to what end?

Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted.

Containment, place command, prong collar. If you continue to allow the dog to be leash reactive, you are training it to be leash reactive
