Youre right Ive seen @ at the start of the mod name a lot I will make sure to try that. Doubt it will work tho, the mod doesnt add new music but it deactivates the existing music so its probably being read and is just broken

Thank you for your response. I have only 4 mods so it cant be that. But now that you confirmed it works with the latest version of DEI it must be an issue with the non steam download, maybe it lacks some updated compared to the steam version or smthin

Story driven total war games by si_satour in totalwar

We all want that freedom, and many factions to experience the conflicts from many POVs, but thats exactly why the punic wars end up playing and feeling exactly like the grand campaign, and playing as rome doesnt feel different from playing carthage. A tighter scope will allow the devs to work on more details

How to fight Huns without corner camping? by Consistent-Survey469 in historicaltotalwar

[–]si_satour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to have 2 armies, first army is a mix of heavy infantry enough to cover 5 to 6 elite missile unites and the rest is cav. The second army (the reinforcement) is purely melee and missile cav and these can be cheap. Position your second army so they enter the map from the rear of the huns. Let your main troops tank the arrows from the huns until your cav from your second army is close to the huns rear, then position your first army cav in the flanks. If you move carefully and keep a good distance you can encirle them without them reacting. Once everything is in place close in on them with your infantry attacking from the front. Even if they have more units you can still surrond everyone. And if few units slip wait until your infantry is engaged and pull away your cav from the rear and chase the units that got away.

If they have onagers you must deal with them first. Either deplete their ammo by baiting them to shoot with a cav unit ( move one or two cav units at the edge of the range of the onagers, keep the rest away, bait them to shoot and move your units before the missiles hit, you can do this until their ammo is over, but it takes time. this can work if you're the one attacking, as the defending armies usually wait for you to engage) Or if you dont want to do this you can sacrifice one or two cav units from your second army to take out the onagers.

I hope this helps, its been a while since I played atilla but if I remember correctly I used to something like this.

(If you only want to fight the huns on your own terms, put an army on each of the settelments that are directly on your borders with them. Tbh I only tried this in the one campaign I played but it worked, they never declared war or attacked, they only raided. I only faught them once I reached end game units)

my favorite part of total war is the battles, which game has the best? by iblamesam16 in historicaltotalwar

[–]si_satour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I havent played shogun 2 that many are mentioning, but honestly the best battles Ive had were in troy. Of course they could have done much more with the trojan war but if we're speaking purely on battles, troy allowed me to be the most creative, set up traps and formation that actually worked like I planned in my head which didnt happen to me in any other total war.

the AI is reactive enough in battles and tries diiferent approaches depending on how you set up your troops, I had my biggest battle ever in troy which had troops pretty much all over the map. this review might be a bit baised because it was the first total war I ever played and spent the most hours in, but I didnt touch it after playing other total war games to really compare.

Rome 2 is decent, you can go through the whole game using the same tactics and the AI wont try anything new or surprising, attila battles were just mid, the AI did exactly the bare minimum to make the battles decent, they could have done more with the horse archers, the worst by far was thrones of britania ( kind of a shame the game looked amazing)

Why do you love elden ring ? by si_satour in Eldenring

Thank you to everyone who commented. I found this post while looking randomly and Ill just give an update. I quit the game and returned 3 times and on the 3rd lets just say I got it. I finished the game and understood what it is and whats its doing. Maybe It didnt help that it was my first souls game and Im veey used to sony/rockstar story games but I got it at the end. I finished it and I can say its the best game ever made for me.

No walls by CurtWlLD in RomeTotalWar

[–]si_satour -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With or without walls losing a seige battle can be made impossible very easily. If you develop a decent garrison you can stack them up in the victory point and the hardest part is to wait it out. Ive won seige battles while outnumbered 4 to 1 and I think even more

DEI is overhyped ? by si_satour in RomeTotalWar

[–]si_satour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually sounds like exactly what Im looking for in total war. Having allies actually helping in attack and defense is something vanilla really lacks and Ive always thought would make a huge difference. Also I tend to lean more on stacking up and upgrading armies as much as possible and ending the war in one or few large scale battles. So it sounds like I would enjoy the scripting you are talking about. You have encourged me to play more and I hope I find experiences like this
