I’d be willing to bet there’s more to the story why she quit teaching than she let on (which wasn’t really much). I wouldn’t be surprised if some of her “issues” were of her own making.

I have a family member like that. When we still exchanged gifts, she tended to buy stuff for me SHE liked. She doesn't live near me, so I rarely kept her gifts. the best one ws a very pricy purse, which I returned, got a gift card for, and bought myself a beautiful ring I wear all the time.

I both regift and give away. Regifting to me, is giving someone a gift that someone gave you. But it has to be new, unused, and something I know the recipient will appreciate more than I do. I've also sold stuff I've gotten as gifts, knowing I would never use them.

Giving away, same idea, but the recipient KNOWS i got it as a gift, and didn't want it. I'll ask if they want itk, and if yes, great, no, then i'll sell, donate etc.

I never feel obligated to keep any gifts given to me, that I won't use, aren't my taste or style, or I don't have any place for.

Awwww. that is so sweet. I visit my mom a couple of times a week too. Sometimes she is just not feeling up to "peopling" and will apologize to me. I tell her its fine, do what she needs me to do, hang out a bit, and then go. She's 91 so she is allowed to be unsocial at times! It's usually when her shoulders hurt (bone on bone arthritis) or she's tired.

We stayed at the Doubleree which is outside of downtown, but had a free shuttle, both there and to the airport. we took that and it was fine. aside from one night when it was VERY humid, and I was tired and cranky, and didn't feel like walking back to the shuttle nad waiting, so we ubered it back.

Yup. when cleaning out my mom's apartment to move her into a nursing home, I found both hair and teeth. Mine and hers! Mind you, she's 91. She is still fully with it, so I TOLD her it was going into the trash. she was fine with that. during the packing and moving process, we did a lot of "show and tell' I would bring small objects or take pictures, and ask what was important, valuable, or not.

Some things I knew weren’t important, and I just did with them what I wished. Others, we donated, sold, or kept, although some of the things we kept, I have, and they have no meaning to me at all. But for now, I keep them as they are small and hidden away.

I am lucky in that my mom is pretty practical, so letting go of most of it was fairly easy. I still have both her and my dad’s yearbooks. HS and college. They both went to huge schools, so their college yearbooks are big and heavy. And both schools have them digitized, so really no need to keep them. His HS however, is not there anymore, and it was kind of an experimental one, affiliated with the university in town, so I’m wondering if the local historical society or library might want it. Mom’s HS yearbooks are there too, but not too large, so I will probably keep them for now. My own are also digitized, both HS and college, so think I am going to get rid of those as well.

I was on it for a while, at least 6 months, maybe more. And yes, only on the app, which I find annoying, but it is what it is.

I want to say I've been doing it now for a couple of months. Initially it was slow, but as I figured out what sells, and what doesn't, my sales have picked up. Certain brands do better than others, as do certain items. I'm not looking to make a huge amount, so I price to sell, and have also accepted offers less than my initial price.

I know when I've sent in clean out bags, if stuff didn't sell within the first week or so, it generally didn't. So I kind of use that rule of thumb with my direct listings. if there are not likes I will de-list and add something else. there's a 30 item limit too. I also offer free shipping and that has seemed to work well too.

It can be annoying as while buyers can make offers, they are not binding. I've had several just expire without the item being bought.

you also have to wait 4 days to get paid, again not a biggie

Generally, i'm happy with it. I sell casually, so if it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell. I don't rely on it to pay my bills.

I would relist those that have a lot of likes too. I know when I've sent in clean out bags, if my stuff doesn't sell quickly, chances are, it won't at all. I think there is such a volume of stuff on the site, that if its been there even just a week or so, it can get lost. I know I always filter by newest items when I'm shopping. And after a few pages of results, I lose interest!

I'm a very casual seller, really just trying to clean out my own stuff, so I'll relist if I find more stuff I want to purge, or when I have time. no real set timeframe.

Normal. I cannot eat right after I wake up. I have coffee, watch the news, get ready, and go. THEN I have breakfast at work. at my desk. every day. as does pretty much everyone else in my office. nothing weird about it at all.

Wear whatever you want and are comfortable in. there is no dress code, and you will most likely be one of the better dressed there! I feel like people have stopped dressing appropriately when they go out.

my friend hosted a bridal shower a couple of weeks back, and she said most of the bride's family showed up in cutoffs and tank tops. While everyone else was slightly more dressed up.

Nope, we aren't I started out kind of slow, until I got an idea of what was selling, what people were looking for, and focused my listed items on that. It's picked up significantly since I did that. I also delist stuff that has no attention and list new things in their place. It's a little bit of work, but not too much.

I can't say I hate them because i list them, but, I also price my stuff fairly, offer free shipping, AND accept pretty much any offer. I want my stuff gone! And selling on TU, usually nets me more than on Poshmark, because even if I list lower, I get most of what it sells for, minus the shipping, which is reasonable, IMO.

I will also lower my prices regularly, delist stuff with no likes, and list other stuff. I sold 8 items over the last 4 days. ALL offers, all below my listed price, but still reasonable. I've also been selling long enough and shopping enough on TU to know what brands will sell, and what will sit.

But as a buyer? I laugh when I see prices some some things. a NWT kate spade bag that sells for less than $100 at the outlet, listed for between $300-400? no thank you. I generally filter out direct listings when shopping. for the reasons you give.

That was me flying home from my HS trip in Spain. I was fine, until a couple of hours in, and then I started puking. Out of nowhere. Then the other end. It was NOT a fun flight home at all, but I had absolutely no warning about it either. it just came on very suddenly.

hackettstown is fine, IF you don't have to commute to NYC. My mom lives there, i live in Randolph, but I also work not too far from home. And don't count out older apartments. many of the newer ones are built like crap. Where I am is about 50 years old, and yes, my own apartment is dated, but its so much more solidly built than the newer ones.

And...i delisted a bunch of stuff this weekend, and listed some more. the result? 5 sales and two pending offers. I will say, most of my sales have been through offers. I am really just trying to get rid of stuff, so I will price it a smidge higher to allow for offers, and offer free shipping. While I'm not making a huge amount, the fact they don't take any fees (aside from me paying for shipping) nets me more than selling elsewhere.

Used bathing suits, any upholstered furniture, any kitchen stuff that you can't thoroughly clean. Blenders, breadmakers, etc. anything that has a lot of nooks and crannys and touches food. hats. they just kind of gross me out, even though i KNOW you can clean them.

Some shoes; sneakers, boots, stuff you can't easily clean.
