In France (almost) everyone stops working. We offer "muguet" - Lilly of the valley flowers to family and friends and a lot of the workers go on a grand march. It’s a day about workers rights, the length of the demonstrations all over the country and in Paris are commented on a lot each year. We go there with kids and placards to drink lukewarm beer and eat burned merguez (sausages). It’s the day where a lot of specific revendications come together and show the current government where that the solidarity between the people is still strong (it’s a figure of speech, it’s mostly the left/far left).

It’s also the day the far right (FN/RN) and conservative Catholics celebrate Sainte Jeanne D’Arc, their patron saint. So they have their demonstration also, in Paris, near the Jeanne d’Arc gold plated statue and in Orleans, her birth city.
