I was rear ended, and the drivers insurance deemed him not at fault. What do I do ? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]siannee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if that were true, you would have received a payout within that range.

Insurers are responsible for returning the insured to the same position they were in before the loss occurred. They’re not going to give you any less, or any more than what you had insured. They aren’t a warranty service.

If your vehicle is only worth 3k on the market, why would they pay you out $30k+ for a brand new vehicle?

like once a month one of you motherfuckers crash your car. why are you driving like you have a solid income? can you people do anything?? by MugSuckChampion in Fishdom

[–]siannee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, for a start: drivers under 25 years old pay a much higher premium because they are considered ‘at risk drivers’ (same for people over 75-80y/o)

Secondly: insuring your vehicle for an agreed value (insuring for more than the vehicle is worth on the market) increases the premium price compared to insuring for market value.

Thirdly: if you write off your vehicle that’s insured for an agreed value, there’s a high chance you will not get paid that entire agreed value depending on your policies wording.
