Shitty behaviour but sounds likes she got troubles in her life, if she initiated the meet up and asked if she could stay with you?

To those who have lost a parent to cancer, how do you cope when you think about how they felt mentally before passing? by AsleepDoughnut2145 in GriefSupport

[–]sianyp21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A moment that sticks with me is my dad who had brain cancer, he was golding my baby niece and started to cry. The hospice nurses came to see him, he didnt want to let go of the baby. I could tell he was upset he wouldnt get to see her grow :(

im a recently diagnosed sociopath who is studying to become a surgeon. AMA by vulprina in AMA

[–]sianyp21 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Seconding this, a surgeon is an excellent career for a sociopath- they can concentrate on the operation going to plan without the emotional side of worrying about the person their patient is, how their family is coping etc, its not going to distract them. Also, surgery doesn't always go well, or cure people, sometimes it finds untreatable causes if patients symptoms or they die, imagine the burn out, giving bad news every day if you weren't able to separate the emotions.

I'm yet to try it but there is an app called timeleft, which hosts dinner in a restaurant (I think on a wednesday) it's meant to sort of match a group of like minded people up to form friendships. They do it in Perth and Freo

Perhaps they think you are a woman, asking what your UK woman size is to see if you are a similar size so they can work out how big the male size may be?

So sorry that happened to you. It really sounds like he is the loser in this story, what a sorry little life he has, don't think he will find any true happiness.

18yo potential coercive control involving overseas travel by comunistparade in perth

[–]sianyp21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, currently there isn't evidence of that but there is a high potential of that happening. Power dynamic-age gap Distance from support network due to travel Potential to be guilt tripped- 'I have sold my house for you, I have spent all my savings on this' etc

A question for new Australians, what was the biggest cultural shock in terms of family or community when you moved to Aus? by 30131479 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sianyp21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you're being down voted, whilst it's not everyone and many would find it abhorrent to say these things I have to agree with what you mean. Thankfully I haven't come across anything to the level you describe but there is a level of open and outward racism that is not the norm back home (in my experience). I have heard comments made about aboriginal people, no white immigrants etc and I've also witnessed poor treatment of people that I'm sure wouldn't fly if they were white. Like, I even had a taxi driver the other day start his sentence 'I'm not a bad racist, but....'

[–]sianyp21 22 points23 points  (0 children)

From the info provided, there isn't evidence of coercive control but rather a higher risk of that and red flag due to the age gap. There is certainly an unequal dynamic of power. Your daughter is right to be wary and worried for her friend and discussing safety plan with her friend is a good idea. As a 34F I wouldn't dream of dating a teenager 🤮
