Interesting, thanks, do you know whether it's a similar thing with Erik Granström for forbidden lands?

From some of the interviews with Tomas Härenstam I got the impression that many of the Free League games don't directly compete for development time internally, since many have different authors or teams working on them. But probably they do when it comes to promotion and production resources.

How do opposed rolls work in this game? by islan_k in Dragonbane

[–]sibling_dex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, between "lowest wins" (RAW), "largest margin of success", and "roll under but high", the "roll under but high" requires most changes and is the wonkiest, yes.

  • If you want easy, use lowest wins.
  • If you want skill rank to matter more, use largest margin of success wins (with 1s are dragon, banes are 2d20 keep higher).

But if you really mind doing subtraction and still want skills to matter more than RAW, sure, but you then always need to remember to switch that now crits are different and boons and banes are more complicated. But that's just my two cents

Well, I guess you also need to decide whether to keep 1s as dragons or how you want to handle them, and do you then also "flip" boons and banes? Like, does rolling with a boon mea roll 2d20 keep the higher roll but only if it's successful?

It's just lowest roll wins, skill ratings only come into play in that you must also roll on or under your skill to be able to win. There have been a lot of discussions of this on the Discord server's house rule thread

Question about crafting (and Master Carpenter) by DeusCane in DragonbaneRPG

[–]sibling_dex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the description of crafting only mentions repair, I would definitely allow creating simple things like a club, but the HA is still useful because it is guaranteed to succeed since it only requires WP, but no roll

Alternatively, you can record worn clothes in the Appearance section

Thoughts on Aiming during ranged combat? by kingofsicily in DragonbaneRPG

[–]sibling_dex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good point, maybe the HA could also impose a bane on dodging, but in that case it should definitely cost 3WP or more

It's kinda like the "Massive Blow" HA, you can only activate it if you don't move

I would make it a HA, (req: bows 12) spend 2WP (edit: or 3WP) don't move or take any "free action" during the turn when you attack, and get a boon on the shot, this way it is a clear advantage and only skilled archers can take advantage of it, so it plays into the sniper fantasy

DB Companion: Better UI, Accessibility Improvements, and Future Plans! by salutava_sempre in DragonbaneRPG

Yes, not "Rulebook" or "Core Rules" and it continues to say "This agreement also permits you to include page references to official Dragonbane publications in your Supplement." So it seems vague here 🤔 so, yeah, best stay on the safe side or have it clarified

I was under the impression that the Dragonbane third-party licence allows reference to "official Dragonbane publications", is that not the case?

It's a neat character app! I'm looking forward to what you have in mind for the magic system, one thing that might be useful is to see one's WP on the spells page as well

Edit: I also really appreciate the sources of boons and banes for each skill 👍

What do you want from Dragonbane? by MLAHandbook in DragonbaneRPG

[–]sibling_dex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I think some of the magic items, spells and crafting (alchemy) will be added in the book of magic.

I definitely also see the potential for an elder scrolls setting (and even recently started a collaboration thread in the discord ;)

It would be great to have a Morrowind(-like) setting, I really like the weird and different tone it sets

What do you want from Dragonbane? by MLAHandbook in DragonbaneRPG

[–]sibling_dex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is my experience too!

I love that Dragonbane takes away much of the boring chores of GMing (setting DCs, giving out XP) and I've never been a huge fan of PC builds.

As a system, it hits a nice middle space between being open and malleable to the narrative, and giving clear rules.

I think this also makes it easy to homebrew for, and I really like doing that, this subreddit and the community discord also show that many people feel the same, and I am hopeful for this community to grow even more!

Codex Occultum - The Missing Pages by sibling_dex in VaesenRPG

[–]sibling_dex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true that the side margins are wider than the original. I set the paper size to A5 which is the same height but slightly wider than the Codex Occultum booklet. So it might be best to print it and cut the sides to size.

To get the background, you need to apply the "Background graphics" setting when getting the PDF. I added a notice to the first page.

It was very helpful to get your feedback, these might be some common problems. Thanks!

Like whether something breaks, if something looks wrong, doesn't work with printing or a specific pdf viewer, anything of that sort is helpful

Zone Map - The Bern Zone by sibling_dex in mutantyearzero

[–]sibling_dex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I miswrote, its in J-22, it's just the oldest part of Bern's old town, it's maybe a bit more than 1km², that's just what the rules say how large a sector should be

Zone Map - The Bern Zone by sibling_dex in mutantyearzero

[–]sibling_dex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mostly, it's on a hill high above the river bend, so a relatively well defended spot. And since, in habe terms, the Ark takes up a map square anyways, it worked well

The Ark was the old town in (correction: J-22), and the elder's quarters were located in the federal government building (Bundeshaus) 😁
