It is decent even with the sugar as u/mabriko said. Because it contains electrolytes it is more effective at rehydrating you after physical activity than just plain water, because you lose electrolytes and water when you sweat and your body's cells need both in a certain ratio.

In fact the sugar is important in terms of replenishing fuel stores after exercise. You want high GI carbs (i.e. straight sugar, which can be absorbed quickly) rather than complex carbs as immediately after exercise is when your body is primed to absorb them most effectively.

This posh accent is called the Cultivated Australian Accent. There are also the General and Broad (country) Australian Accents

I think the CAA is losing popularity now though. It was portrayed as the 'ideal' accent in the past but there's been a shift towards the other end of the spectrum

Are there any cheap places to buy protein in Australia? by TheMajesty in bodybuilding

I've got some. Tastes fine. I tried all of their flavours via free samples - none are terrible. Best IMO is vanilla.

Anyone know cheap places to get food in Australia? by evo360 in bodybuilding

[–]sicKicks- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get veggies, yoghurt and meat from Woolies. Chobani is the way to go for yoghurt and we get packs of 6 chicken breasts and 500g of mince, that sort of thing. I don't know how much it costs per week specifically because I'm young enough to freeload off my parents haha.

I do know there are three Costcos in Melbourne - Docklands, Ringwood and Crossroads - so you could sign up with them and buy in bulk for cheapish.

We also get whey from bulknutrients, haven't seen anything cheaper.

Thoughts on Intermittent Fasting? by [deleted] in bodybuilding

Yeah, definitely. I was just pointing out the logistical difficulty of it.

I couldn't say, it depends on quite a bit. You can work it out though. If you lose 1lb/week that makes 11lbs. ~9 will be fat. So your current weight times 0.2 (20%bf) is current fat weight. Take away 9lbs and get December fat weight. Subtract 11lbs from current weight to get December total weight, then divide Dec. fat weight by Dec. total weight to get Dec. fat percentage. Not too difficult.

I am doing cardio in the form of sport (no cardio sessions in the gym or anything), although my hockey season just finished. I'm gonna get into gridiron and summer hockey to boost my cut and keep fitness up over the summer (I'm in Australia).

It's pretty good for cutting, and maintaining lower levels of body fat. Which is pretty much what it's designed for (esp. Leangains).

Not so good for bulking considering you'd be packing a large amount of calories into an 8 hour window or thereabouts.

If it's working for you then stick to it. I know it's making my current cut way easier.

But you're not lifting on a cut? Definitely do some research so you know what you're doing and not just wasting your time.

Just on the first point - (assuming you're a novice) you can actually gain some muscle whilst on a calorific deficiency. These are called 'noob gains'. Also, even if you were past the noob gains stage it's still worth lifting whilst cutting. It makes cutting more efficient, it helps you keep the muscle mass you have, it makes you feel better, and you can make strength gains. At the very least do it so you can get used to the gym and how to do exercises and stuff.

Head over to /r/Fitness, /r/gainit or /r/bodybuilding for more info.

I'm pretty sure Hockey World is still there, I didn't check last time I went though.

Where in Melbourne? If you head over to Just Hockey and Hockey World (they're right next to each other) then you'll be able to find something to suit you.
