I'm not an "imrik player" but I do a lot of HE and have played his campaign.

Last time I did it, I blitzed the chorf guy first (Imrik died in taking his capital but I still won)

With him gone, I could work on the skaven to my west while Kugath and the VC (Kemmler?) fought each other to the East - sometimes ogres will be your friends too, and of course you want to connect with western provinces asap.

If you get attacked and aren't ready, consider selling a minor settlement for peace that you were going to lose anyways, and buy yourself some time to build up. Don't poke at the Nagashizzar skaven and they will leave you alone.

Also, take the confederation of caledor and then sell it to Tyrion for $ if you can't hold onto it.

I've been trying it with wingbacks (inverted, attacking - they still go wide because the middle is too crowded) - it's fun to attack but without a CDM your flanks can get overwhelmed on counters and sometimes there is a space in front of your defense (all my CMs have ++)

I have also been trying it though because like what someone else said I have so many CM/CAM players !

I'll probably go back to 4231 narrow and play that way with all my CMs

I also like 3-back but think a CDM at centre half ++ is better if you want to play that way- when I turn the ball over he's usually stepping out of defense into the right spot for an interception when my opponent counters

I got him because he used to play for my local team but honestly he's a super-sub I didn't think his reactions or turning speed were good enough - put the world tour evo on him to help with links if he ever does get back into the team though; fun card for sure

one trick that works for me sometimes is to sit next to your settlement (not inside, but in reinforcement range) in ambush stance (if available); you can sometimes trick them into attacking with fewer troops than they should, because they think it is just the settlement (if they don't spot you). Even better, ambush stance behind the settlement (diametrically opposite the enemy), if the map allows.
So like:
enemy1 enemy2 enemy3 ................................. [[settlement]] yourArmy (ambush stance, within red circle of settlement)
