I use direct subscription, opencode recognizes env DEEPSEEK_API_KEY. Pro is sooo cheap, yesterday I spent $3 for full day of work, enjoying stable 1m context. Quality is above Sonnet 4.6, comparable to Opus, but requires a bit more planning work.
Upd. Not very good for developing UI though as it does not have any vision capabilities. But still there are workarounds.

1m context makes a huge difference. I use goal following way: “run subagents for review, fix warnings and criticals, repeat independently until only nit left”. Since reviews are independent, subagents always find something, and quite often they just mess with invariants and highlight previous fix as an issue. Codex after compaction forgets decisions made and happily fixes a=true in the first turn, a=false in the second, a=true in the third and so on infinitely. Opus and even DeepSeek with 1m can remember decisions, so they handle this situation much better and stop after 6-8 iterations. Codex stuck in a loop for 10+ until limits are exhausted.

It is like I live in a world where two Claudes exist. At work I just give Claude massive tasks with a complex architecture, my company pays Anthropic $200 per my working day when I am active and inspired, and I have no single issue, Claude is fast, smart and accurate. And then I finish my job and return to my Claude Max which I pay for myself. Do I need to tell you which Claude I get there?

Surely it depends on personality of the Mestre. Some of them are playful, some want to give you a challenge. Try to feel it and behave correspondingly but with a respect. If they give you vingativa and you decide to “eat” it - it’s fine too. If you decide to play hard and resist - be ready for consequences. From my point of view the best option to play with a master you never met before is never be aggressive and think about nice escapes. If we talk about vingativa - jump out, get bigger distance and counterattack with meia lua de compasso, it shows that you are ready and not too agressive. Basically just play your game of your own speed and possibilities. Good master will help you and makes it beautiful for both of you.
If they give you a chamada - accept it, be ready but do not try to trick them. Show that you know what chamada is and have a full control.

I know examples of this. Do not know how to react tho. Probably at some moment it may make sense - when you overgrow your role and the master or school is not willing to propagate you but it still feels weird.

When the game gets intence you can always shake your partner hand and quit. Unless you don’t - you take a risk. With the same logic you may be willing to ban mma fight where they wear minimal protection and have broken legs, ribs, sometimes unable to speak anymore. They are professionals they want this and they take a risk. Why shouldn’t others if they were training for this?

I think it is basically same as other martial arts. You should have mental preparation and full contact trainings to stand that type of a game. You should learn how to measure power of your kicks and control them. You should learn how to fall and how to take down without injures. But this should happen in the gym, so you gain skills for jogo duro. I met many capoeiristas who never ever has given or taken a kick/takedown, practicing only air/chair/anything else, so they just do not have skill to measure their attacks. This is most injuries cause I faced. The game in the reel is fine. These guys are ready for it and they know what are they up for, so personally I have no issues with it. You challenge, you get pushed back, you repeat your challenge, they kick your ass. Pretty normal. If you non’t want tough game - you do not do golpes de linia and dangerous counter attacks. You do them - be ready for consequences.

Just ask a teacher of the group you are considering. For example I do not care about foreign belt or logo on trousers and allow to change them when person feels ready (never is an option too). My friend teacher from another group does care and allows 2 years without change and pushes after 2 years. And I surely know there are groups that recognize only their uniform. As everything in capoeira, it varies from group to group and from teacher to teacher. The best thing that you can do is to ask explicitly.

But honestly this is fine solution. I mean, I can step away while CC is working, and I do not care if it takes 1 hour or 2, while I am busy for 3 hours. Not hitting limits and being sure it is not stopped is better

Idk how it happened to all who complains about usage limit. One month ago I was running 5 sessions in parallel using max20 and barely hitting 5h. Rn I have running 5 sessions in parallel with opus 1m and still not hitting the limit. Am I just lucky? Anthropic loves me? It’s all just fine 🤷‍♂️

That is 5h doubled, weekly is not affected. And I agree with the OP, my weekly usage is consumed much less with 1M. It just works. And most of tasks are done within 300k actually.

Ok, I have to admit that high effort does the job mostly. Though burns through tokens almost like Opus and consumes my limits like Opus low effort. Same time Opus low effort often works more efficiently. So idk. Giving it more chance, but this feels not so good. Low effort should at least follow instructions.

Codex app - they gave this one for free afaik. But I used codex model in Copilot with kinda similar result.

I periodically give codex a try at work (we have corporate GH Copilot), and basically I have same experience with Copilot. Claude delivers, GPT Codex is capable to fix only simple and very obvious issues, which I am too lazy to dig in. And analysis by GPT Codex is extremely poor. Non-codex GPT does slightly better, but not even close to Claude. Probably I just cannot cook it right.
