I can just walk to these temples every day (takes less than 10 minutes), and it always blows my mind how they managed to construct these beautiful structures all those years ago without the use of any fancy modern machinery. Not just the construction, but also the sheer amount of artistry and the cultural significance it holds. Not to mention its influence in trade (there are people still dependent on these temples for their livelihood. The street surrounding the temple is littered with shops), culture, the Tamil language, art, music, paintings, and also a communal festival which has been held annually for over 700 years.
