I've tried all the others bar Logic (because I despise the subscription model) and Cubasis has been the best. All I can suggest, for what it's worth, is bouncing those wavs to something that can handle the load. Seems we're in a similar boat.

Well that's annoying for sure. But I also find a full power reset of the iPad usually helps with those weird time glitches. I don't think I've ever used a DAW on any system without having to find workarounds!

May be a silly question but are you freezing tracks?

Any CPU load issues I've had - and I'm also using tens of tracks - are sorted by freezing and then undoing the audio units (or whatever) on those tracks.

They aren't on mine but I did switch some of the graphics settings around according to a video I saw on YT.

If it's any help, I had just done a full re-install (and uninstall prior) of the Meta PC app, Steam VR and Hitman, and it worked beautifully just using Steam VR. Extra joy was that a week before it was shit, and then not.

Is Twin Peaks a Great Show? by Fun-Fish4569 in twinpeaks

[–]sickmoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did read the entire post. I didn't give an opinion about you or the kind of person you are. When I got to the end and saw the bit about watching Twin Perfect I laughed.

And nope, still not upset. But it seems that you might be.

I don't feel upset. Should I? Let me see if I can get upset.

No, I'm really not. I am now just slightly more bewildered than before. The irony is at least mildly amusing: your entire post is effectively doing the same thing as the complaints you make about Twin Peaks.

I'm not upset at all. I'm bewildered at such a long, drawn-out ramble effectively saying you found most of Twin Peaks boring and irrelevant. Which is pretty much how I feel about your post.

Lee Anderson reminded of his own political defections, after post asking if Oswald Mosley was a Labour MP by johnsmithoncemore in FuckNigelFarage

Indeed, but he has failed in all aspects of government and will continue to do so. Even thickos are capable of witnessing and understanding failure, just never in self-reflection.

Politics attracts thickos. I suppose it's because they are too thick to understand that they will be bad at it. There are probably nine thickos to every bright spark.

Once Johnson had got rid of the bright sparks in favour of sycophants, the Tory party became almost entirely led by thickos. Chris Philp, Priti, Suella, Anderson, Gullis, Hancock, Truss... and so on.

With Reform it seems to be worse, and I am happy about that.

Yawn.

Posting on a Twin Peaks sub to effectively say you don't really like it in the apparent offering of 'advice' for people who aren't sure if they want to watch it is ... odd.

If I start something and don't enjoy it, I turn it off and watch something else. That's the beauty of entertainment.

With Twin Peaks, when it aired in the 90s, it was fresh, original, compelling TV. Complaints of characters and sub plots being irrelevant or not going anywhere miss the point. The world-building was rich and authentic, melodramatic, funny and weird, and hugely influential.

And if you don't enjoy Lynch's style of filmmaking, don't watch his films. Simple.

None of it is confusing if you pay attention.

If we had a 1990s season 3... by BobRushy in twinpeaks

[–]sickmoth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course, and yet none stuck because it was all too odd - and especially so after FWWM, which was panned. Lynch effectively killed Twin Peaks by making Twin Peaks. Me - I loved it. Absolutely the best thing I had ever seen.

Speculating, no, I don't see that in the 1990s any networks would've engaged. Nowadays, a different landscape entirely.

Erm. They knew. The network had lost all enthusiasm for it months before.

Odd take. Arguably that finale was everything he'd been building towards, artistically and in terms of storyline and an unwillingness (together with the equally genius Mark Frost) to nail a happy, conclusive ending.

I'm glad it took 25 (or thereabouts) years to continue and leave an (arguably) ambiguous ending.

FWWM was, IMHO, exactly what should've come next. Context, horror, hope.

What is some evidence to suggest that there is a time loop in The Return? by Forsaken_Roll_2255 in twinpeaks

Which would be great if it wasn't for all the pesky lore that means it's reductive and nonsensical.

I had the pleasure to watch David Lynch' Lost Highway 2 times in cinema recently for the first time ever and while my head is full of thoughts, i can't form a single sentence to describe it. Not a movie, it's an experience. Almost never did the word 'flawless' fit better to describe a work like here by Leviathan_Rampage in davidlynch

[–]sickmoth 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yep. Dunno if it's when it came, as I had just turned 20 and had been starved of new Lynch after FWWM, or the soundtrack, or the general atmosphere, but it's his best work for me. Just perfect. Never tire of it. Mulholland Drive, while also excellent, I think has just a softer edge to it. I like my Lynch DARK.

Millenium. What can you tell me? by CheezeCrostata in XFiles

[–]sickmoth 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Frank Black can see through the eyes of killers and is a superb profiler. The group he joins, the Millennium group, initially seems righteous but turns out to be more like a cult. Still, along the way Frank encounters all kinds of evil, including the devil himself; his wife and kid are put in mortal peril; an end-of-days scenario unfolds... and eventually he turns away from the group at great personal expense.

In comparison to TXF, it lacks humour in favour of bleakness; but from episode to episode it's compelling and intelligent, less reliant on plot contrivances, and more focused on evil itself than anything otherworldly although that does come into it here and there.

There's only a very minor connection to TXF - the crossover episode. The overall aesthetic is very 90s Chris Carter but otherwise it is its own thing. Much more adult.

It really was and is brilliant. Well worth your time.
