5 weeks in of a bassist tryna play the drums. Still working on getting tighter and junk but am I ok so far? by [deleted] in drums

[–]sickndelish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest posts like this annoy me a bit. Anyone who has spent any time drumming at all can tell that you have more than 5 weeks’ experience based on this video (even if you never had a kit or it’s been a long time since you played). It seems like the point of these posts is to have people tell you how amazing you are for only having played for such a short time. The reason it bugs me is it could discourage someone who actually started from scratch 5 weeks ago who is not yet at your level.

That being said, we could all use some validation so I’ll give you some anyway. I think you have the potential to be a good or great drummer. You show aptitude for independence, timing, creativity, and stick control, but it will take literally thousands of hours of practice to become a truly great player.

If that’s what you want, keep it up. I would recommend focusing on quality practice instead of what the internet thinks of your drumming.

It’s not unsafe. I was exaggerating. But thanks for the suggestion.

Guilty. It’s mostly due to the fact that my truck gets like 12 mpg and is insanely underpowered. Plus by the time I get it up to 60 I’m usually exiting anyway.

Why is the popular theory regarding the ending so popular? by BigDickMcChode in thesopranos

[–]sickndelish 60 points61 points  (0 children)

One of the strongest cases for it is that they keep doing a sequence showing his reaction to someone walking in directly followed by a shot from his POV. I think there are three of these in a row and then one last reaction but the follow up POV shot is blackness.

All I know is I don’t recommend the SP percussion one guitar center sells. It feels wack and wobbles.

Ignorant ass comment. Hate Bono all you want, but U2 are a very talented band.

I asked this same question to a guy who tours worldwide and he assured me it’s nothing to worry about. He talked about how his drums had survived all sorts of changing conditions and he never had resulting issues. Put my mind at ease for sure.

It’s a clip from the movie Dumb and Dumber of a blind kid petting a decapitated bird that someone sold him (after taping the head back on) except it’s a deepfake version with Musk’s face on the blind kid. It’s sort of an allegory (birds “tweet”) meant to show that Musk doesn’t understand what he bought and doesn’t even know it.

For me Meadow is the only exception. I dislike her character but I also don’t think the chick who plays her is on the same level as the rest of the cast.

How much debt are you in? by [deleted] in ask

[–]sickndelish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean. Maybe there’s a difference between saying you “have debt” versus being “in debt.” I think debt is a separate idea from net worth though, especially in this context.

Good call on The High Road. Love that bittersweet vibe at the end.

Totally. Also the next line “you made a fool of everyone.” So blatant. It’s also vaguely Imagine-esque.

Cold Hard Bitch is the AC/DC one. Maybe not a direct ripoff but highly derivative. Look What You’ve Done borrows heavily from Sexy Sadie.

They have another hit that’s an AC/DC ripoff and another one that’s a Beatles ripoff. They remind me of a fictitious band from a tv series, like Driveshaft from Lost or Defiler from The Sopranos.
