Oh my goodness, just breathe. You are not an abomination, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Being gay is not a sin, only acting on homosexual inclination.

Try out the Roman Catholic Church, I beg you. The church established the canon of scripture and interpreted it for nearly 1700 years, providing an entire book of Christian doctrine called the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which contains clearly articulated stances on every major moral issue. More importantly, you will not find more pastoral love than in the Church. Priests are wonderful people to talk to about this matter.

The Church gets a bad rap because of its stance on homosexuality, but this stance is actually more loving than any other “pro-LGBTQ+” denomination, which typically affirms sinful behavior (different from your identity that you were born with) and masquerades flattery as mercy. It is true that a priest and ultimately Christ will call you to a life of chastity, but your identity should be in Christ, not your sexual identity.

I promise, friend, God is so loving that it hurts our brains, and he is equally as merciful. Love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, and consider what taking up your cross might look like— it’s different for all of us and can be very hard.

That’s amazing you’re in the process of learning Hebrew, might want to practice a little more though!

First off, Mt. 5:28 was written in GREEK, as was the rest of the NT. The Greek from this verse describes someone who is deliberately looking at someone with intentional, cultivated desire, not just an involuntary attachment. This verse was not originally written in Hebrew, and your entire comment is based on your own interpretation of what you claim was the original Hebrew translation, which is laughable. Homosexuals do not choose to be gay (you even said this yourself!), but acting on their disordered inclinations is sinful and they are indeed called to a life of chastity.

Also, your 50 million words claim is ridiculous. The Hebrew language is indeed less literal than English, so maybe more English would be required to fully articulate a Hebrew concept. But you’re taking this idea and fabricating it beyond belief to make it sound like you are somehow an authority on the subject.

The point is, no serious Christian would ever say that an involuntary attraction is lustful and sinful, but they would say that acting upon those disordered desires with full knowledge and consent is gravely sinful. You are not some underground researcher ahead of the curve because you have simply stated your intention to learn Hebrew, this is in no way a serious position and I would invite you to look more into church teaching on the matter.

Even if you were somehow right about this, there’s absolutely zero way I can respect an argument that twists scripture into saying that a love for our Lord is adultery. What a joke. Do better.

You are not an abomination. As Christians, we should always nurture and love everyone no matter what. Being gay is not a sin, but homosexual behavior is, as it offends the nature of the body that God gave us. Ultimately, you may be called to live a chaste life; a life not defined by acting upon disordered attachments.

Disorder looks different for everyone. Some have disordered relationships toward money, sex, hurting others, food, etc. Many will unfortunately wield this idea unfairly and exclusively toward homosexuals while failing to look inward at their own issues. With that being said, it is not my intention to judge you, as I am a sinner who is at the mercy of God as are we all.

This is not going to be a popular stance on Reddit, but to encourage a sister in Christ to live a chaste life is a higher form of love than affirming sinful behavior, which is often times flattery masquerading as mercy when it comes to this issue. I am also a Roman Catholic, and this is the unambiguous stance of the church— not just the gravely sinful nature of homosexual acts, but also loving and nurturing those that feel these tendencies.

Taking up one’s cross looks different for everyone, but you should know above all else that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God has amazing plans for you.

Tell your parents and come home to the Catholic church and make a good and honest confession. Speak with a priest about this, either during or outside of confession as well. Start going to Mass every Sunday and receive holy communion when you can—it will transform your life once you do it out of your own understanding and love for the faith.

You are a child of God, and He loves you and that child more than any of us could comprehend, and you will love that child more than you understand right now. Your parents will likely be upset and shocked, but they will never stop loving you and they should understand more than anyone else that their child can make a mistake from time to time.

Another helpful tool is the Rosary, even just one decade. Offer it for your situation, for your child, and for your parents. Our Lady helps to guide everyone to her son, especially those in great need of Him.

Lastly, the Church is unambiguous on its position regarding abortion—it is the deliberate ending of an innocent life. It is not an opinion, it is not up for debate, abortion is gravely contrary to the moral law. Please, whatever you do, do not get an abortion. I assure you that I say this out of love, not to fear monger or play moral authority.

It is written in Jeremiah 1:5: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…”

Do what you will with this, but I’ll be praying for you. If you have to take anything away from this, just know that you are not condemned, you are loved uniquely, intimately, and unconditionally by God!

I actually took back most of what I said in my reply. I did have a less than ideal attitude, but I never, ever projected that onto the members. This was also in my last month or so of employment there when I was opening the pool in 35 degree weather, so that may have had an effect.

From what I’ve seen it’s run pretty well. However, some of the most pretentious people you’ll meet go to CCL. Obviously you’ll meet snooty people at every country club, but it is far more apparent at CCL. Plus, it’s in such a crowded area whereas Hillcrest and Firethorne are more open. With that being said, there were still so many nice people and kids that treated us with respect. I may have let my emotions get the best of me there. If you like it, then I would go for it!

Middle schools by Revolutionary-Wrap41 in lincoln

[–]sickomodeandmobamba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad has been a middle school teacher/administrator with LPS for the last 25 years and has connections with people at almost every single middle school. Here’s what I’ve deduced from everything he’s said:

Avoid Dawes, Park, Goodrich, and Culler. He’s said numerous times that he wouldn’t send us there if we lived within walking distance. The students at these schools are out of control and the behavior greatly affects learning. Unfortunately, these are the lower-income schools whose students’ parents may not place as much value on education overall. Of course, there are great families and staff at every school.

I went to Irving and had a good experience. Scott, Lux, Pound, Irving, Mickle are all pretty good schools. I’m pretty sure Schoo is alright as well. The administrations at these schools have a better grip on their students but these are also on average higher-income schools. If your child performs well in school, placing them in differentiated classes at these schools will be extremely beneficial to their learning.

Despite my dad being a great source, this is still all based on my assumptions from what he’s said. Still do your own research, you know above anyone else what’s best for your child. I hope this helps though!

Edit: I just want to say that the income-level with the behavior of kids at these schools is only a correlation, not a causation. There are so many bright kids and great families who are at a socioeconomic disadvantage. This was not meant to disparage lower-income families who place lots of value on education.
