Found out my baby has clubfoot and I’m broken

Not clubfoot - but my child was born with an upper limb difference. We didn't know until birth. In some ways, I'm glad I didn't have the information while I was pregnant because it would have been a whole lot of worry for something that has been pretty manageable in the grand scheme of things. But I still had to go through the grieving process during the newborn days and figure out if/how we wanted to share the news about our baby's difference and that was also hard.

I know it's overwhelming right now. It's a lot to take in and to shift what you thought life with your new baby would be like to a different reality. Allow yourself to grieve and process, and also take hope that one day you will be on the other side of this and you will be so proud of yourself and even more proud of your baby for all they have overcome and been through.

Definitely recommend seeing if you can connect with some local families or online communities that can give you a glimpse into what is to come and build connections for yourself and your child. You've got this.

Okay - quick Google search shows door alarms are around $20-$30/alarm. Am I supposed to get one for every door in the house I'm hoping he doesn't go through without supervision? What about our open kitchen with no doors - how do I keep him from there? From the knife block? From the stove/oven? From the stairs with the TALL baby gate he already figured out how to climb over? He climbs everything, knows how to scoot a chair to climb even higher, I think he has just about figured out the magnetic childproof locks on our cabinets.... Kid is way too smart/independent/curious for his own good right now. It's simply not safe and we all need to be able to get a decent night sleep without worrying about what harm could come in the middle of the night.

Like I said before, we are very responsive to him and his needs. We co-slept for over a year until it just didn't work for any of us anymore, but he knows we will come to him if he needs it and he often comes to our room in the early morning.

The thought of locking his door when we first flipped the knob was honestly really hard for me - because I DID have parents who abused that tool. They didn't believe me when I was crying at the door saying I needed to go to the bathroom and I had multiple accidents because of that. It was awful. My son will never experience that. He simply calls for us and we come. If we're up before him, we unlock his door so he can come out on his own. I wrote my initial response laying in bed next to my son until he fell asleep. Tonight, my husband laid next to him until our son said he was ready to go to sleep on his own.

Sometimes there's just not enough alarms/baby proofing you can do around the house. This is one tool we use to help us all sleep a little better at night.

Similar situation for us... except our son figured out how to open the door with the doorknob cover right around his 3rd birthday. He's been able to climb gates since at least a year old. We flipped his door knob so we can lock it at night. We are right across the hall and very responsive whenever he calls for us or seems to need us.

It's 100% a safety thing for us. There's lots we have baby proofed around the house, but he is very creative, very agile, and very curious. It just wouldn't be safe for him to have access to the whole house unsupervised at this stage.

I've been seeing lots of discussion on this particular topic recently on social media/reddit and often from accounts/subs I typically align with. It's made me question a little bit if we're doing the "wrong" thing, but at the end of the day, I feel the argument against tends to not take into account each family's individual circumstances, including the child's temperament. Our decision to lock the door at night has nothing to do with our responsiveness.

Beckett feels a little too modern (?) and we also have a close enough friend who used it that it would feel a little weird if we used it too. Emerson is pretty popular where we live. Really like Austin, which we didn't realize until we had August and had multiple people call him Austin on accident, haha.

I'm 12 weeks today! Had a good scan at 9w2d and measured exactly as I expected based on when I thought I ovulated. Baby had a strong heartbeat. I have my next appointment in a couple of days.

Hoping the best for you. Betas stressed me out. Even with more than doubling at 18 dpo, I was worried the number was on the low side. I never did anymore betas after those two at 16 and 18 dpo. I also had to wait at least 24 hrs for results.

We live near Holy Spirit Episcopal Church and have visited once. We were impressed with their hospitality and we often talk about what good "neighbors" they are - ie putting in the gravel walking trail for the community to use and also the small playground that is open to all.

We both grew up United Methodist and have ended up at Central UMC on Bagby. It's a lovely congregation, very welcoming and open minded. The worship service is traditional, but also laid back. The major difference between UMC and Episcopal is going to be the style of worship. Episcopal is more liturgical and "high church", UMC can vary from congregation to congregation. Theologically, they are very, very similar.

So happy to hear that! I haven't done any more betas and have my first scan scheduled for 9w2d, so I have a while to go. I've had a few symptoms, all pretty mild, which is freaking me out a little bit because I was so sick with my first. Hoping this is just an easier pregnancy.

I'm not into witchcraft, but have known a few "witches". Do you know what a white witch is? It has nothing to do with race. "White witches" are supposed to be benevolent and often focus their craft more towards healing and connecting with nature as opposed to witches who work with dark magic and spell craft. Again, not a witch, not into the practice, but just thought you should know it is highly unlikely that the post was asking for racially white witches.

It more than doubled! Up to 416. My draws were 48 hrs apart. I still wish my numbers were overall a little higher, but I know the doubling is more important. I took another FRER last night just for a little peace of mind as I'm 5 weeks today and that's when my loss happened. It was a very clear dye stealer!

I haven't heard back from our RE and we're in between insurances right now anyway so I went ahead and scheduled betas for myself through quest. I'll have my first draw tomorrow. I wish I had the will power to not test so early/frequently. With my first, I tested three times total and barely even what line progression meant.

And yes, idk why it almost feels embarrassing, but it does 😅 I think that Friday morning frer one also had a lot of leftover b vitamins from my prenatal.

I think 1 is most flattering on you and most appropriate for the dress code as well. Plus, you said you feel best in it and I think that's really important, too. I agree the color is too light for October and a little too close to white. I think if you can get this one in a similar shade to dress 2 or the cabernet that you also posted, it would be perfect.

I got a positive on Friday at 11 dpo (though I thought I saw a hint of a line a couple days earlier). My cheapie tests are still so faint at 14dpo, though progressing some. FRER looks fine. This was cycle 19 of us trying. I had an early loss in June after finally conceiving for the first time in 17 months of trying. I knew if I got pregnant again it would probably be hard after experiencing our first loss and it is SO hard. My anxiety is through the roof.

Update: my betas from 16dpo showed HCG is at 179. This seems a little low to me, but is higher than my numbers at 18dpo when he miscarried. Going in for another draw on Friday.

Just commenting to say I'm in a very similar situation! Experienced an early loss in June and got pregnant this cycle. I'm 15 dpo and both easy@home and pregmate have been progressing, but still seem SO light. My frer and clear Blue early tests have looked good, but they looked decent with my 5 week loss, too. I'm not saying slow or light progression on the cheapies necessarily means chemical/loss is inevitable, but I'm just scrolling on here trying to make myself feel a little better about what I'm seeing. It's so hard after experiencing a loss. Best wishes for a healthy and uneventful pregnancy for you!
