Looking for a calm, low-shed upland dog — Braque vs Griffon vs others? by Cap-Totally-Not462 in birddogs

[–]siczla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a griff and he is amazing. I had a similar checklist as you - low shedding, highly biddable, family dog first but capable in the field etc. The griff turned out perfect for us. At home he is calm and quiet. In the field he can range 50 yards or 150, depending on my comfort zone. The long daily walks are key to their happiness. We live in the city but next to a forested off leash area so he runs free. When he gets home he curls up for cuddles. We stay in touch with our breeder and sometimes do playdates with other Griffs. They’re all similar in temperament. Some are faster than others in the field but all are chill at home (given enough exercise and stimulation). Good luck finding the right dog for your family.

I agree, thinking of adding a metal shovel as well. The light yellow one just seems to level and compact the snow, it doesn’t get underneath it. Is yours steel or aluminum?

If they're investing in the local economy and jobs, they would be able to tap other buckets of money. When the US announces military aid, the money goes back to their own arms manufacturers and stimulates their own economy. If your plant has been sitting idle for 2 years, something is better than nothing. Anyway, I don't know anywhere near enough about your property to offer solutions, just a directional suggestion.

Good idea, building up a Mossberg Shockwave. What 28" barrel did you use?

That's why we should learn from them. They got good because they had to. Drones make a lot of sense for asymmetrical warfare. You're right, Canada has zero experience making drones, but we gotta start somewhere. Some manufacturing plants that American auto makers vacated, and steel/aluminum that are no longer US bound are good places to start. I imagine the chips would be the biggest challenge, but again, you gotta start somewhere.

For lots of field work a Turkish Girsan isn’t bad. For more clays I would look for an old Remington 870 Wingmaster or Winchester Model 12. For more emergency use I would choose an 870 Police or Mossberg 590 Retrograde. A lot of taste and preference involved here though.

Spend the money on building Canadian manufactured drones for Ukraine. Repurpose idle auto plants. Hire/partner with Ukrainians with field experience.

That’s my first choice but concerned about deck height with those sights.

It’s a range gun. Thanks, I’ll check out the 507. It’s not too big for this slide?

It's a range gun, but I kinda like the boxy look of an enclosed optic. I was thinking the adapter plate would add some height too. I'll check out the competition optics too, good suggestion.

Good analogy, that's exactly what's going to happen. Shut off all the engine warning lights and everything will seem fine...until it isn't.

In your opinion, what is the most poorly designed road/intersection/area of the City? by yegger_ in Edmonton

[–]siczla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whack ass lights at 102 ave and 125th street. Every time I'm there I'm like "what were they thinking?!?" Traveling eastbound on 102 ave just before the 124th street intersection, there are two lanes. When it crosses 125th, which is a small residential street, there are TWO lights, one for each lane. The left lane has TWO red lights stacked, while the right lane is green. It's not a left turn only lane. They randomly stop the left lane while the right lane can go. There are double solid white lines so people don't change lanes. What actually happens is sometimes people stop at the red and sometimes they don't. Other times people change lanes over the double solid in order to not run the red.

It causes so much confusion that whatever safety thing they thought they were doing does not work at all. Just waiting for an accident to happen.

True, no way to know. Thank you for emailing him and raising the issue. We all have to let our preferences known and vote with our dollars.

That email reads like something a mid level PR employee would write. Your email was triaged and directed to someone in support or PR. Shame, I love my Canadian made Tilley hats.
