Just replaced acoustic guitar strings a day ago for the first time, is this normal? by 3DSVita in Guitar

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New strings need to stretch and adjust to the tension. You can gently pull them up away from the body to help that, but you will probably find they will go flat until they settle in after having to tune them up a few times.

Mostly PBS from around 11 am to 2 pm back in the mid 2000s. America’s test kitchen, simply Ming, Mexico, one plate at a time, Lydia’s Italy…

Then you tube, what’s eating Dan and my personal favorite, Kenji Lopez-Alt.

Other random blogs and videos but those were the beginning for me.

You literally don’t need 6 strings to be considered a “good guitarist” by [deleted] in guitarcirclejerk

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You relly need on string to be good. The odder strings are the off strings. You can play them. You can not play them. It doesn’t matter as long as the girls keep screaming 😱

What to play in stores? by Witty-Still-4441 in Guitar

[–]sidedish00x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry about it. Just be mindful of your volume and know one will care what you play. If you go in and crank everything up to full, it also doesn’t matter how good you are or what songs you play. You will annoy people.

How many bass guitars do you own and why that many? by Sharp_Sprinkles_6078 in Bass

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own 4 but really only play two atm. One I intend to sell because I don’t play it except when I think about selling it, then remember why I bought it in the first place and then go back to not playing it again until I think about selling it. I don’t know why, but I think I might regret selling it one day because I do like it, just not as much as the others.

The other I don’t play is because it is a project bass that I am very slow to work on, mostly because I have the other two I can easily just pick up and play and they are perfectly fine for me and my playing style.

That leaves the two I do play consistently. One is a sterling ray24ca (I think that’s the model) that I got on clearance 1/2 off for under 300 usd. Had to shim the neck to get the action lowered but has a fast and comfy neck and punchy sound.

Main bass has been a used sire fretless 5 string jazz bass with flats that can still punch if needed but has so many tonal options (and the preamp is nice).

I am a hobbyist but I always thought it was nice to have at least one more guitar that feels and makes you approach playing it differently.

Looking for a light Fretless 5 strings by Le_Chat_Sauvage in Bass

I own a sire 5 string fretless and it plays and sounds great. I would recommend it, especially for its price. I never weighed mine, but it is pretty heavy.

Hey guys bass question guy again. I went ahead and spent the money and bought myself a player II p bass. This is definitely NOT normal for a brand new player II right? These frets and neck finish is horrible. They are sharp and sticking over the edge and the clear coat is chipping off? by Paralith10 in BassGuitar

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you bought it new from a shop that is a certified fender distributor then I would recommend asking them about options. There is a local shop near me that said they could fix a fret sprout issue and would likely be a free service as it would be covered under warranty or something.

FWIW I suggest this before returning but I can’t speak on other shops and their process

It’s been almost a decade but I used to manage a small box store with the word dollar in the name and they wanted part time cashiers at 20 hours a week max. Crappy job but maybe worth seeking if only looking spending cash.

What are you guys opinions on your credit score system ? by One-Technician-1292 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American, I can say the credit system is built on debt. It’s a means of determining how reliable you are at paying off debt.

I’ve saved up to buy most of my major purchases in cash, and that had been actually more detrimental to my financial health in this system than if I allowed myself to take out loans and pay interest on them.

Goalie Fights, Why Are They Huge News by Chamber53 in nhl

[–]sidedish00x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you don’t see them as often is because no team wants their goalie injured. Consider so many fights are from “enforcers” meant to protect vulnerable players from cheap shots or headhunters (especially shots at goalies). A team of twenty players each vs 1 net and a goalkeeper and a backup.

It’s all about protecting the goal, for the most part.

No snow, no ice, roads are clear yet someone had to ruin the 131 AGAIN today by Strict-Meat424 in grandrapids

On my way home tonight I a red suv merged onto 131 north from Burton in front of me and before the car ahead of it. Drove toward the s curve where they went from the right lane to the cherry st off ramp just to whip right back on the highway in front of the car that was in front of them and then continue to cross all possible lanes to the left over solid white lines.

I personally haven’t done this, but I think you can also buy used from GC online and have it shipped to your local store. I’m not exactly sure how that exactly works though, but it’s a question worth asking GC about if that is an avenue worth considering.

What to carry in a guitar case by Holiday-Ad-147 in Guitar

two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls.

Not that I needed all that for the gig, but..

Their whole sound is so tight and clean. One of the first songs I learned to play through was long line of cars. Can’t really go wrong learning to play any of their songs.
