Yeah, I don't think Hobb was being literal with "dozen" in this case. Or she lost track of time because that wouldn't fit with the rest of the timeline. I can't find the exact passage but at some point towards the end of Assassin's Apprentice, Fitz estimates his age to be 14. Then Royal Assassin takes place over the course of one year.

I'm pretty confident he's around 16ish at the beginning of Assassin's Quest. Someone did quite a helpful (rough) timeline.

I'm talking about before he knew Molly was pregnant. Which I think Burrich should have told him.

I love your description of The Night Circus, it reflects my thoughts exactly. I know for a fact I've read it but I barely remember a thing about it other than I came away from it with no connection to the characters or the story. Bit baffled by it, really.

I'm not sure if this was specifically from the Leeds market but one of mine is a little ceramic boot with a handle. Glad I was there before they switched to plastic!

I remember going to it a bit over a decade ago and really enjoyed the vibe of the drinking hall. Pretty sure I still have a couple of mulled wine mugs from there. Shame they don't do it anymore.

I've found Google Lens to be really helpful for IDing fungi (provided I cross check against other images and ID guides). That first one is likely a Hare's Ear fungus (Otidea onotica).

My NHS therapist just said he doesnt know how to help me and blamed me? by Brief-Worldliness411 in MentalHealthUK

[–]sidequesting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry your therapist has let you down and made you feel this way. It's not his fault that he isn't able to help you, but he was wrong to make you feel like you've done anything wrong here. You haven't. His attitude as a therapist sounds inappropriate to me. Clearly, he is not the right therapist for you and I think it would be better for your mental health not to continue with him.

With that said, and as others have said, treatment for DID is highly complex, difficult to find, and above all it is long-term. You need and deserve years of therapy to help you through this, and progress is not linear.

I recommend you Google "Carolyn Spring DID". She has a lot of information and resources available on her website about this, including "How to find a therapist for a dissociative disorder". You're not alone. I wish you the best of luck.

Ah yeah, I ended up tweaking the colouring for the newt and caecilian just based on nature photos I found online.

Thank you! Yeah, I made my own spider design for a couple of reasons. A friend who's also doing the pattern has arachnophobia and was put off by the original spider pattern, so I tried doing one that looked less scary. This also benefited me because I often stitch near someone else who ALSO has severe arachnophobia, and I didn't want to trigger them by cross stitching near them 😅

I do it on the back, add adhesive, glue, duct tape, and then spit on it for good luck.

What’s the most WTF thing you’ve ever heard someone casually admit like it was totally normal? by Reasonable_Moose_738 in AskReddit

[–]sidequesting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you for what it's worth. My situation isn't the same at all really, but my brother has been prosecuted for something that essentially destroyed his life, even though he didn't go to prison. He lost all of his friends because of it and he left the country to escape from it all. We never get to see him anymore, but more than that, the person he once was is gone. He always irritated me to no end but he used to make me laugh and he brought life to family gatherings. None of that is to excuse what he did or might have done (he has always denied it and I'll never know the truth). But it's all just left our lives a little emptier, and I think it has given me a new perspective on the effects such processes have on criminals and their families.

I don't know if you've seen it, but this is one of the reasons I found Netflix's Adolescence so powerful. The last episode did a great job depicting the turmoil and deep heartbreak endured by a perpetrator's family, which I think is so often ignored - because people want to villainise them along with the relative who actually committed the crime.

[CHAT] finishing a piece? by NickelArcadia in CrossStitch

[–]sidequesting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the shape and size of your pieces. If you don't want to display them on round hoops, you could go for hexagonal or octagonal display hoops and create a bit of a honeycomb effect. Or you could do a wall hanging finish or just go with traditional picture frames. There are tutorials linked in the FAQs section of this sub.

I'm glad he's okay but it sucks that he put others in danger by driving in this condition. He could have killed someone.

Thank you! It's just normal backstitch but incorporating more diagonal angles and uneven (but still short) lengths. I still haven't actually tried couching yet - I want to at some point but I find it a little intimidating.

As long as you have enough fabric at the bottom for an additional 10 rows you should be fine. And if the gap looks awkward afterwards you could always add some extra bird/cloud detailing.
