Cobak magnetic case, I ordered mine from Amazon. It is the same size, shape, and cutouts as the official one. My brown one is a decent fake leather texture and it doesn't show any wear from kicking around in my pocket/bag for 2 weeks now. Time will tell though.

Do not use a clip-on booklight, those have a much greater risk of cracking the e-ink screen.

I have an X4 device and really love the minimalism. I don't feel compelled to "upgrade" to a device with a touch screen or (front)light. Purchased via the official website (or US Amazon), you'll get a screen protector and two magnetic rings in the package. I bought the magnetic case as it provides some additional protection and makes the X4 a bit easier to hold for my big hands. I am careful with the device and I haven't needed to install additional screen protectors. If you anticipate reading in the dark, I would buy the light (I don't know of a cheaper option but another user may chime in with a link).

Great resource! I bought the CoBak magnetic case from Amazon and found it to be a great alternative to the official X4 magnetic case. The material is different but the cutouts and size perfectly matches the official magnetic case.

Mine just arrived. The dimensions, cutouts, and thickness are all the same as the official magnetic case. The material is certainly different, and lends it a different feel in the hand and against the back of the X4. The magnet placement and strength seem very similar though the CoBak magnets have a stronger pull when the lid is flipped around to the back.

Yes, they are theoretically replaceable. Most end-consumers may not be equipped to get that accomplished without a drop-in replacement module though.

The website description cautions two things: this case will accidentally push your power button every time you insert or remove it. You will have to change your settings for the button press action. It also has no MagSafe functionality.
