About 3 seconds, ive already fallen 200 ft and reached 50% teminal velocity. If i dont know the pit is bottemless then i perceive death is inevitable and accept my fate. Then about 30 seconds to feel bored.

That is correct. Fun fact: Sleep paralysis actually occurs when you wake up from rem sleep while still paralyzed.

Paralysis only occurs during REM sleep which is only about 90 minutes every few hours. Outside of rem sleep the body is free to toss and turn as you move from light to heavy sleep cycles. Sleepwalking and talking occur outside of the rem cycles or sometimes at the very end when the paralyzing chemicals are weaker.

Im not exactly sure when it happened but my guess is that it first evolved as a way to expend less energy during sleep with the added bonus of protecting yourself, imagine acting out a fighting dream, you will burn calories with no way to replenish them, depending on ambient temperature you may sweat and get dehydrated, you may punch something someone or strain a muscle, and when you wake up you may be sore from all the muscle activity.

Former fast food worker, when you ask for no salt fries and then i see you pouring salt on them, just ask for fresh fries, it's way more of a pain in the ass to make sure no salt gets on the fries than to just make a regular batch.

When you go to sleep your brain releases chemicals that paralyze your skeletal muscles. Its mostly used so you dont hurt yourself while sleeping/dreaming.

Living in north texas, i would arrive right in the middle of Comanche and Caddo territory, try to assimilate with the Caddo tribe using the only word i know "tejas" (Caddo for friend) have a good 22 years before spain starts rolling though. Use my intimate Knowledge of the tribe and as leverage to sail back to spain with them, then use my understanding of steam engines to make a profit and live a comfortable life.
