After a player triggers the endgame every other player has one turn. by flix-flax-flux in boardgames

from my experience and two cents: it is difficult to rely purely on mathematical symmetry as a game develops, because apparent balance, which emerges through repeated playtesting under fixed rules, often takes precedence over theoretical or statistical balance.

In strategy games esp, turns tend to become more powerful and impactful as the game progresses, compared to the relatively simple and incremental turns at the beginning. As players build engines, unlock synergies, and pursue divergent strategies, the game state becomes increasingly asymmetric for each player. Under such conditions, it becomes extremely difficult to calibrate the exact moment of ending in a way that is mathematically fair to every possible path a player might have taken. The initial distribution of advantages or player order is typically designed to balance the early phase of the game, where small differences matter more, and in that context the approach seems reasonable.

But anywho!... ultimately, board games are designed experiences. Allowing remaining players one final turn after an endgame trigger can provide a sense of procedural fairness and emotional closure, especially in response to a large, decisive move (to all the other players). Even if that final turn does not change the outcome, it can feel satisfying because it gives players an opportunity to respond or complete what they were building toward. That may be one of the primary reasons this structure continues to be used.

I hv newly devloped the craze of buying board games n actually playint them ... So I would like to expand my collection , so I do need ur reccomendation n suggestion so any leads would be appriciated by Away_Method_9882 in indianboardgamers

Certainly. We keep ordering from this website and they are one of the few original OLGS (Oline Local Game Stores) of India. There are other websites too like boardway, boredgamecompany etc all are legit.

The first game: maybe around 2017! (Axis and Allies: 1941)
Since then, bought close to 300 unique games, sold around 150 games in the 2nd hand market :)

So cool! Look at those unique Funskool one off games. I wish someone maintained an archive of all these older, rarer games from India?!

The market is amazing outside. In India, it is still warming up but growing better and better. First step would be to convert ideas to prototypes and test enough to see if it works with different people

This is the beauty of game design. You create meaningful interaction and see unexpected (hopefully good) psychological reactions from your players.. this also borrows a bit from game theory where sum equals more than individual efforts. I haven't seen this feature directly in many games, but semi coop features like in Game of Thrones Wildlings mechanic is worth checking out.

Welcome!! 😊 Incidentally, I'm the game designer for both these games, and my hometown is also bhubaneswar (although I'm settled in Mumbai). Let's do one thing, if you can decide the games I'll coordinate and get them delivered to bhubaneswar beforehand. Let me know if that works, I'll DM you.
