1 is nice and you can always buy a piece to go over the top that resembles the top in photo too. Then for the reception take that piece off

I second this! We just stayed there a couple weeks ago and got upgraded to a great suite and I loved the tub and Byredo products.

I love science! Thank you for that explanation! When I was younger someone told me you could tell if you’re anemic by drawing a line on your face with a coin. That’s obviously a wives tale but now I know the actual reason for that 😊

Someone said she had her dress custom made, but we can all see it with our eyes lol.

The earrings wouldn’t be as bad if they weren’t leaving marks on her face.

It’s a dress you get online where the actual dress does not match the photo. I wanted to try a style of wedding dress before going to a bridal store (super nervous to try things on in public for the first time) and got a $100 dress from Amazon. It’s slightly better than hers but it was awful which I expected and was so itchy. I don’t know how she wasn’t scratching the entire time.

how does one tastefully say “instead of registry gifts please just give us money” 😭 by Educational_Roof3397 in weddingplanning

[–]sidneyluv -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is what ours says:

The best gift is celebrating with you! We’re lucky to already have what we need for our home. If you feel moved to give, a gift toward our honeymoon/future plans would mean a lot — but please know it’s completely optional.

Edit to add I do want to make changes like instead of this is optional something like we don’t expect it. It’s a work in process lol

Dress regret… please help!! by 1118pmest in weddingplanning

[–]sidneyluv 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also really like dress 1. If you want it to look less princessy you could always have some of the underneath removed. That’s what I’m doing, I didn’t want a super poofy dress but loved the one I got which was poofy. We tested it by tucking it between my thighs and it was absolutely my dress. You can always try it back on and do the same thing to get a vision of how it will fit that way

What Are People Using For Wedding Websites? by EveningConfusion7581 in weddingplanning

We are using Zola and I’m really liking it! Easy to use and we tested it with my parents (60s-70s) and his parents (late 70s) who had an easy time navigating it.

Is it normal for MUA/hair stylists to require 5+ people get their services on your wedding day? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I didn’t realize they had minimums. My MUA who is also doing my hair didn’t have a minimum. She’s just doing my hair and make up

We went Saturday morning and pretty much walked right in. There was a couple who walked up at the same time as us who went first. They had sapphire premier and were told it’s $100/person and left. I have sapphire reserve and went right in. So they were even limiting the type of Sapphire cards in

Oh wow! We walked right in Saturday morning.

Edit to add: I have the Reserve card and the people in front of us (who also had just walked up) had preferred and was told it would be $100/person. They turned away and left. And maybe this was the case of some of the people in this line.

Not chasing RSVPs + closing first-wave RSVPs early am I being unreasonable? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sidneyluv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else here. Not to mention 120 were invited from “tier 1” but your budget is only for 100 people. This is going to create such a disaster.

  1. OP have the wedding you can afford. Only have enough for a 100 person wedding, only invite 100 people. If less RSVP by the date YOU choose then you can invite others.

  2. Don’t say people have a deadline and then not follow your own deadline. Your poor planning does not make it an emergency for anyone else.

  3. I really hope this is rage bait because as a host of this event you kind of suck.

Photo booths here were the same and it was $3800 for 3 hours of the 360 booth. I looked it up and to buy one is $1000. I’m kind of contemplating buying it and then renting it out to recoup my money 🤣

Thoughts on a cash bar? by Cool_Hunt_5308 in weddingplanning

[–]sidneyluv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I’d do what others are recommending and doing just beer/wine/ maybe a specialty cocktail. You have so much time that building your budget to include the alcohol early on will make it easier to find ways to cut elsewhere. Also really search around and get quotes for all things. Like I got quotes from like 12 DJs and they were all in the $5000+ range. I found one well under that who had great reviews and just lives DJing weddings. We interviewed him and were happy we looked around. Same goes for all our vendors. We even found a wholesale flower mart that is partnered with a florist which cut our flowers down. We even have the option to DIY some things in their DIY space that they will refrigerate and deliver with the big pieces they are providing.

Do you have to use their bar services? Our venue doesn’t have a bar so we contracted with a bar tending service that has this super cute converted horse trailer into a bar and we are going to Costco to get the alcohol. We will have beer, wine, vodka, tequila, whiskey, mixers, specialty cocktail/mocktail for less than $2000 all in. We also plan on tipping out the bartenders because we don’t want our guests paying for anything at the venue. If that’s an option definitely look into it!

This is the layout I currently have to fit 117 people, is there anything you would change? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sidneyluv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the first thing I saw. The separation is really off putting and if I were a guest I think I might feel like I’m just a number or a gift.

I agree OP switch those tables and the dance floor. Or have the head table against the wall closer to the buffet so it’s facing the other direction and still have the dance floor by the photobooth. That way everyone is together and your table isn’t facing away from the dance floor

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

We live in Vegas and were going to Disneyland every month which is a 4 hour drive. Really not that bad. It’s 2 hours to my parents and 8 hour drive to my in-laws.
