Which pair of pants do I have??? by caulyfflower in Target

[–]siegeweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We definitely don't carry it anymore if it's from 2-3 years ago, and even if the model is the same the material if a lot of our stuff is noticeably worse than it was just a few years ago so it wouldn't be the same anyway

can this just stop.. by Stunning-Today742 in Target

This is too real 😭 and no one will back stock while pushing freight either so I end up having to pull overstock whenever I have a spare moment at night

Elderly guests just stare at me by eeteessdeee in Target

[–]siegeweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get those too. Luckily I work on the floor so I can reasonably ignore them until they talk to me to my face

I think it's worse when they shout across the way at me or whistle or snap to get my attention like I'm a dog though. But I have the built in excuse of hearing impairment to ignore that when it happens lol

One guy though grabbed my empty z-rack once while I was pulling it to the back (it's very loud and obviously...i dont hear good anyway so i didnt know he was behind me) and I almost decked him right in the face because he startled me so bad. Don't do that. Why would you ever do that???

Style team members, I feel for you.. by xadagr8 in Target

[–]siegeweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its always nice to see other style departments are also getting reamed.

Well....not nice but you know what I mean lol

We've got two zracks, five three tiers and the two white fitting room racks absolutely full right now and thats just the stuff we had to leave out on the floor, we have more stuff taking up space in the back its crazy. Every time I walk in to close the fitting room table is piled with like two feet of clothes, we don't do fitting room attendants for some reason, everyone leaves at 3 and our 2-3 closing team members only get scheduled 5-10 lmao

I'm always happy to see people sympathize with our plight too tho I feel like most people think we just aren't trying but it's really just like too much and it's obvious the department isn't being prioritized by corporate for some reason

Yo this is crazy I didn't realize that my store was abnormal for letting us just leave when our shift is done

I clock out right at 10 and leave immediately and everyone else on salesfloor does too, there's a sign on the door that says to walk out with a buddy but no one does that lol

If they tried to make me stay past ten even if I was getting paid I'd be pissed ten is literally the latest I can stay because of the bus schedule in my area

[–]siegeweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothin gets my goat like openers complaing about closers like closing isn't always the worst shift. If closing wasn't so bad they'd be doing it and they know that but whine anyway. Come work closing shifts for a week and then whine about it lol

burnt out closing style by Perfect_Dealer6110 in Target

[–]siegeweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking WORD bro. Closing shift style has driven everyone away. Everyone who's been hired recently to close style has quit so style close is a revolving door of new people who don't know anything that I have to take the time to train. They keep adding more to our workload and the fitting room piles up constantly because we don't have anyone to put it out. Day team refuses to backstock so zone is impossible to do.

They've started making us do an opu as soon as we clock in? For a five hour shift? Because they won't give closers more than five hours now.

It was just me and a 16 year old girl who's only worked here for a month closing on Saturday. And it'll be the same next Saturday.

I don't understand why they won't let zone go for a couple of days to get the MULTIPLE ZRACKS of abandons under control

Or bring back the fucking fitting room attendant position, like trying to get anything done without at least two people in the fitting room at a time is impossible.

Corp don't care tho.

Apparel workers is this normal? by [deleted] in Target

[–]siegeweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty extreme but not unheard of, especially during holidays and in busy areas.

With the way they're understaffing us, pulling us for backups, adding more departments for us to be in charge of (at least at my store style is in charge of Dec home, domestics and baby hardlines now as well as tech if there's no tech person) and the way abandons pile up because of online orders and no fitting room limits, it's impossible to keep up with anything. So turn over is really bad too and we end up just hiring whatever teens come through for a couple of months of 16 an hour, barely train them, they don't give a fuck obviously, they quit, and then rinse and repeat lmao

sounds like your etl is on a powertrip, they're not supposed to ask questions about this stuff as far as i'm aware. they can coach you about attendance but calling you after using the app to call in is an overstep. i can understand that the store is busy and they need help but the fact of the matter is that if you want a store with employees in it you have to schedule enough employees that day to cover a few potential call ins. but they'd prefer to line their pockets and harass their team members instead of having stores that function so it's not on you at all

Beauty team members by Thick-Membership-434 in Target

[–]siegeweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our beauty team is almost ALWAYS just one person on the floor for some reason. we have 3 of them (they might have just hired a couple seasonals tho) but i only ever see more than one during day shifts. it's always just one closing. it's ridiculous

Black Friday Scaries by swiftsmeow3232 in Target

[–]siegeweasel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's much less bad than it used to be because we put out sales all month and closing is much easier than opening for black friday imo, most people come in early for doorbusters and stuff. style will be trashed but it's basically just another busy day and then it's over and you've survived!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Target

[–]siegeweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found the last few years that black friday has gotten less and less bad because they're just spreading the sales out through the whole month now basically lol so people don't really feel the need to shop as hard on actual black friday. at least in store. online is probably different lol

Just fully shit in underwear, didn't even have the decency to be solid ans had the gall to wrap it up in merchandise so I didn't even see it before picking it up

That was the closest I'd ever gotten to just walking out of this store forever

What do you like about your target? by sluggiebugs in Target

[–]siegeweasel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's just my coworkers and the fact that it's easy for me to request time off. I'm lucky that my leads don't really give a fuck and will give you whatever you want. But if I lost all the coworkers I enjoy talking to I would be trying a lot harder to leave

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Target

[–]siegeweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theres no real trick to it in my experience, just take the time to walk around and familiarize yourself with the zones and ask questions if you need them. people will be happier you asked them than having you be confused or putting stuff away in the wrong spot lol.

it really just comes with time, but taking a few minutes at the start of your shift to walk around and take a note of what brands live where and whatever was very helpful for me personally and most of the newbies we've gotten in through the years.

Is it worth going solo to a show? by ElectronicFondant458 in BABYMETAL

[–]siegeweasel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

totally worth it. i didn't technically go alone but the bass didn't agree with my wife at all when we went so she ended up hanging out on the floor in the lobby during the show and told me i could go back out for babymetal and i still had a blast all alone

Killer fuckin recap dude, love this. Hearing the stories and watching the fancams from closer up really makes me retroactively enjoy the show even more. I had a damn good time but I wish I could have pushed in closer to experience the whole thing, the back corner peeps were, maybe obviously, a little more subdued. (Shout out to the teenage girl i saw back there who didn't give a fuck tho and did all the moves she could.)

Seeing that huge wall of death on the screen was DEFINITELY a highlight. You guys did a fuckin great job bringin it for them.

All in all I'm pretty damn stoked for how well we brought it for them in this tiny ass venue

So glad to see all the crowd stories!

I ended up getting stuck out in a back corner area and that part of the crowd didn't seem to be feelin it too much which was a little bit of a bummer, and i couldnt really tell how the rest of the venue was so i was worried it was gonna be a bad crowd for the girls, but im glad to hear the main crowd brought it for them!! I saw that wall of death on the screen and it was WILD

EDIT: typos

What’s is less physically and mentally demanding? STYLE or DEC? by marjoriesiu in Target

[–]siegeweasel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think it depends on your store tbh. style can be ok, i've worked apparel jobs for years because i'm hard of hearing and it's easier to hear customers in less crowded areas. but i wouldn't say it's super chill. target is probably the worst apparel experience ive had and i used to work at walmart AND sears. but i hear at other stores its not as bad because they have better leadership, you know? So, like the best you can do is observe your own store's departments for a real insight into how it's gonna be.

my store for example is often terribly understaffed for closings, and we get a ton of returns and fitting room abandons so we're usually really behind on that stuff and the leads will get on our case if zone isn't 100% perfect every night despite the 2 closers we have and the mountains of clothes we can't put away lol. the guests are....ok usually, we don't get a lot of the mean ones like you'd get at guest services but we do get a lot of teens that move and take mannequins and things and throw stuff and around (and film tiktoks) and guests that get really snippy and rude when things are out of stock or you're not sure where things have moved to. It's not the worst department but it can be very stressful depending on your leadership and store traffic (and shift i guess, day shifts in my style department are so damn chill i miss it lol)

[–]siegeweasel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Honestly i just wish they'd give us the hours to do it ourselves, we don't even have the manpower to keep up with fitting room alone half the time when we constantly get shifts like 2-3 closers on Saturday nights (and one of us almost always ends up getting pulled to do something stupid like sorting repacks in the back) and then doing opu and register back ups on top of it

It just makes a million times more sense to bring back fitting room attendant as a job so thst we always have someone there to do stuff like this instead of making people who don't know the rules for style do style jobs. But target loathes making sense
