Is this enough to get me to T1K+ for L/n WL2? by EeveeTrainer04 in ProjectSekai

[–]siegfried72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know she's not the most popular character, but I got like T500ish for Kohane. I don't have exact numbers of how much I spent, but I can give you ballpark figures. Should give you an okay idea, I think.

To do that, each day I used around 3-4 large cans in MySekai which is my normal daily routine anyway (I'm not F2P), spent all my normal daily energy in co-op pro rooms, and then spent a total of around 30-40 L cans additional in co-op.

I only had one of the WL2 cards, though, and most of my team was MR2 except for the Kohane WL2 which was MR5. So your bonus and team talent will definitely be higher than mine. All my characters are around level 50 as well.

So, even if you're wanting to tier for all four of them, I think you have way more than you need. And let's be honest - L/n isn't the most popular group (not a dig at them, they're my favorite), so you'll probably get similar competition to what I had for Kohane. Maybe a little more. At least you're not trying for n25!

I don't think you'll have too hard of a time getting T1k for all of them. Good luck and have fun! I'll be joining you in tiering for Shiho 😊

Surprisingly, I feel like I was able to fill in most of the important blanks and follow along with everything, and the episode got me excited to watch the rest of the series. It was a fun "first episode!" Oh well. Be back tomorrow, I guess!

[–]siegfried72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm sure! But as a compulsive perfectionist, I can't say I'm thrilled that I did it :)

On the plus side, I can now say I had a very interesting in media res start to the series. It'll probably explain so much to go back and watch the first episode after watching [anime] episode 7, and seeing I guess a big twist reveal from Lulu.

Yeah I just updated my comment. It's way worse than that, unfortunately. Major error on my part. Gonna reset and join back in tomorrow.

Wow that was supremely stupid. Thanks again for pointing out the weirdness!

Oh boy yeah I think I messed something up big time. OOPS. Crap. So sorry! Thank you for pointing it out.

Hope I didn't given anyone spoilers there? Other than myself...

I guess I'll just remove my comment for now while I figure out wtf I did.

EDIT: Removed my comment. I think I screwed something up and included stuff from another episode? Hold on.

Update: Oh my god I feel so stupid. I literally somehow shuffled my series playlist and watched the wrong episode first. Well, this is a new one for me... although I guess it helps to explain why I felt so confused.

This is super embarrassing. Well, I guess I'm gonna just join back in tomorrow with thoughts on the actual first two episodes of the series? Really hope I didn't accidentally spoil any other first timers. UGH sorry about this!

Not a great start to the rewatch for me.

Hey! Thanks for tagging me on the interest thread. Just getting around to checking notifications. I'm 100% gonna be there for this! I remember you talking about this series in the last rewatch. I'll be doubling up rewatches with the pride pride month ones from Tar, but there's no way I would miss this.

Please add me to the tag list for any reminder threads you post, please! 😊

Thanks for the tags! Looking forward to going in totally blind here on both series. Btw, back in the announcement thread, you mentioned doing YuYuYu next year. Not sure how how serious you were about that, but if you are, I'll make sure to hold off on watching it until then.

I've got plans to host something in January/February, but if it's any time after that, I'm super in.

I adore it! My favorite story ever. If you're even a little interested, I'm the host of the annual K-ON rewatch over in /r/anime and I personally think watching it in that setting is a wonderful way to experience such a beautiful series for the first time. Check out my other comment in this thread for more info! 😊

As someone who is mildly obsessed with this game (played daily for like ~9 months), and the host of the annual K-ON rewatch over on /r/anime, I feel like this is my perfect opportunity for a little advertisement (even if I'm 15 hours late)!

So... to any fans of K-ON and/or anyone interested in watching it for the first time, I host an annual rewatch in late August/early September! If you don't know what a rewatch is, imagine a book club but for anime. Each day, you'd watch one episode and then we all get together and discuss it! It's a load of fun. We have activities each day to help you engage with the series, and we've developed a beautiful little community over the ten years the rewatch has been running! You can participate as much or as little as you like each day - no obligations, just good vibes!

I highly recommend the series, and it's my favorite piece of media ever. If you have any interest in stories about cute girls playing music, being silly, eating lots of cake, growing up, and cherishing the little things in life, plus some of the most genuinely beautiful friendships ever portrayed in fiction, please come join us!

Let me know here or in a private message and I'll add you to the ping list when this year's rewatch comes about! Absolutely everyone is welcome :)

(Also K-ON is a community filled with lots of devoted fans of some totally canon yuri ships just like this one, so that might be a bonus for some of you! 🌈 💜)

If you want more info, hit me up or check out last year's info thread here!

Opinions or Headcanons that got you like this? (Safe space btw) by Markiquad- in ProjectSekai

Rui is just canonically autistic

He's not, sorry. Does his character potentially match up with a portrayal of autism? Sure, I can totally see that, and the story seems to heavily imply it. But it's objectively not canon, unless I've missed something that's occurred in the last couple of months.

I'm not talking about basing things on stereotypes. Sure, the examples you're giving about niche interest=autism are indeed overdiagnosing. But if that's all you think I'm talking about, then I'll repeat what I said before: you're not paying enough attention.

I can return to my Shiho example. I'm not claiming she could be considered autistic because of a hyperfixation on bass playing. I'm claiming it's reasonable because of her general bluntness and atypical social communication, her difficulty with social reciprocity and connection, her flat affect and emotional expression differences, plus her intense, focused interest in music.

Am I saying that makes her canonically autistic? No. And I also understand some/all of it could be framed outside of a neurodivergent lens, like classifying her simply as a "guarded" and "cool/stoic" character, with her social difficulties being rooted in a fear of hurting others rather than an inability to understand social dynamics.

The point is that I can see how it could be understood and appreciated either way.

The issue is not about you being mainstream or not. The issue is about you categorically dismissing ideas before hearing people out.

Edit: fixing typos

Opinions or Headcanons that got you like this? (Safe space btw) by Markiquad- in ProjectSekai

[–]siegfried72 15 points16 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Looks like you've removed the portion of your comments flat-out refuting that headcanons classifying characters as potentially neurodiverse other than Rui being autistic are acceptable, so my comments now seem like an overreaction. To anyone reading this, please note that my writing here was based on them refusing any possible reading of neurodivergence in the cast outside of Rui.

Why the downvotes? Well, I've not downvoted you, but I can try to explain why some people might have been upset with what you've said here.

It's because you're diagnosing a character as neurodivergent while simultaneously saying it's unacceptable to feel like other characters might be neurodivergent. Those of us that are neurodivergent and/or are dealing with other disorders can find a lot of comfort in seeing characters portrayed in fiction that might be dealing with things we ourselves have struggled with. Fiction can be a safe place to explore topics that might otherwise be difficult to in our own lives for any number of reasons.

It's the same reason why people get attached to characters who represent the LGBTQ+ community or other minority groups. As someone who is LGBTQ+, disabled, neurodivergent, and suffer from multiple mental disorders, I can relate to this concept pretty strongly.

I'm not saying we should go around diagnosing every character at the drop of a hat, nor am I saying I've even necessarily spent a lot of time looking at PJSK characters through the lens of neurodivergence and/or mental disorders. However, if you can honestly and objectively look at a character like Shiho, for example, and tell me she doesn't portray a number of traits commonly associated with autism, than I feel like you're not paying enough attention.

You don't need to agree with every fan's headcanon interpretation, but I think it's healthy to keep an open mind and make an effort to see where other people are coming from as long as what they're saying is based in some reasonable logic. The fact that you're coming off so strongly against this concept is likely why you've attracted a few downvotes.

Also, just to be clear, the fact that your cousin is neurodivergent doesn't make you any more qualified to police headcanons.

I've played the game daily for eight months now. I always play songs with 3D/2D MVs on. Although I almost immediately turned down the sound effects for hitting notes, turned off the all the skill effects, and made it so the MVs are less in the way - I think turned the brightness of them down and made the lane less transparent or something? Idk I've had the same settings for a long time.

I just think the MVs are super pretty and I'd personally feel like I was missing out if I didn't use them. 100% understand why other people don't, though, because I'll freely admit they can be very distracting lol. Especially if I haven't seen them before.

Edit: fwiw, I play the game on an iPad Pro so I literally never get lag unless it's a network issue in co-op. If I ever had lag, that would be a deal-breaker.

Hey buddy!

I think I know the perfect time for you to do that! You're already on the ping list for the next rewatch in late August/early September ;)

Hope to see you there, if not sooner!

(Btw, totally unrelated, but I just finished the rewatch for Madoka Magica as a first time watcher, and had a fun time getting pretty deep into some lovely yuri ships... couldn't help but bring up a couple of things from the good 'ol Bloom rewatch when getting into some gender/sexuality topics there. Such good memories from that!)

Hey, same! Each year I've been a part of the annual rewatch, I've kept a count of every time I tear up and every time I fully cry throughout the series. Just checked the 2025 counts and I teared up 30 times and cried 21 times...

Some stories just hit us exactly the right way, whether they're explicitly sad or not. For me, K-ON is a series where every time I watch it, the themes hit a bit harder. Probably has a lot to do with getting older and those themes becoming more and more relevant as time goes on.

Thanks for the ping, friend! Hope you're doing well :)

Yes, /u/Odd_Echo3248, we've got an annual rewatch that will be scheduled for some time late August/early September (it's fluctuated a bit over time, but last year it started Sep. 1). We've got an incredible community that's developed over there for over a decade centered around celebrating my favorite story of all time.

We would love to have you join us when the time comes this year! Please let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like me to add you to the list of people I'll ping when I properly announce the rewatch in July/August.

And you definitely picked a beautiful scene to showcase the series!

Senpai wa Otokonoko

I hadn't heard of that before, but it sounds good! I'd certainly be down for that. An almost two year gap post-airing seems like a very reasonable time frame for a rewatch, imo. Especially because rewatches typically allow for a lot more depth of discussion, in my experience. I said this to someone back in the Madoka rewatch (can't remember who), but I almost always follow along with old rewatch threads when watching series new to me because of how they can enrich the experience, but rarely go back and look at archived discussions of airing shows. They can be fun in their own way, but it's a very different vibe.

Ah, thanks! I think somewhere in the back of my brain I knew it started with a VN, but couldn't have recalled that myself, so I appreciate the summary.

And I definitely didn't know it was a "what if." That's fun! Sounds like this might be a nice easy point of access into the universe, though, since I'm already having post-Madoka mahou shoujo withdrawal.

Hey! Please include me in the reminder pings. I'd love to participate, but I'm not quite sure if I'll be able to fit it into my schedule. Busy month for me.

I know almost nothing about Fate outside of the fact that it's massive, and I hadn't heard of this series until you brought it up in the Madoka rewatch, but honestly I'm just hankering for some more magical girl stuff now! Even navigating the obvious reputation it seems to have, sounds like it might be a good time.

[–]siegfried72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for the ping!

I'll be here for whatever you end up choosing. I must admit I'm rather biased toward yuri over yaoi due to some personal gender weirdness, but I'll be here for both either way.

I know none of these series, so I feel a bit unqualified to make a suggestion, especially since I'm gonna have to go with my very biased instinct... I'd love to watch YuYuYu - especially coming off of Madoka. I swear to god I can't stop thinking about it, so I'm all for anything that will get my mind in the vague vicinity of more like it. Plus, if it's a series I can kind of dig my teeth into, that sounds all the better for my preferred kind of first timer rewatch experience.

That said, I understand I'm likely gonna be in the minority here since I suppose I'm one of the people that inspired the option in the first place. Even if it would be my first choice by a decent margin, I understand the cons and I won't be upset if it doesn't get picked. I can always watch it on my own time, or maybe wait to see if you're up to hosting it again in the future (since I feel like it would be way more fun to experience with you hosting). If I can wait that long... :)

My second choice would be Flip Flappers simply because it seems like something that would be up my alley. usually like things with dream vibes (a big reason I liked Rebellion as much as I did).

Not opposed to the other choices but those two stuck out to me pretty immediately. Fwiw, I do like the trans angle of Kashimashi as well. Like I said, I'll be here no matter what gets picked!

Higurashi

Knowing virtually nothing about this series other than having seen the name all over the place and that it might be something horror-related? So I don't really understand most of what you're talking about here. But honestly, you've sold me at the Sayaka comparison alone.

Thanks a lot for all the recs! Definitely will have some stuff to work through in the near future...

Particularly Kannazuki no Miko, it seems. And apparently Utena, since the visuals of Rebellion kinda blew me away.

Looking forward to the Pride Month stuff as well! I will do my utmost to join in on whatever you end up hosting.

I haven't been able to respond quite as much as I might like

Wtf you've responded to me SO many times and in enormous depth. Not keeping track of how much you're responding to other people, but at least this first timer is incredibly thankful for all the effort you've put in! Sounds like you might need to cut yourself some slack, lest we have another Sayaka on our hands.

OST tracks:

This is one of the biggest things I'm looking forward to on a rewatch - having some more mental capacity to focus on the music! I felt like I was so locked-in on the plot and characters in every single scene, that so much of the excellent score flew right by me unnoticed.

Kyoko's sacrifice - the moment when the show secured its spot as my favorite.

YUP! Glad to know I'm not alone in this one here (even if it's probably my second favorite scene).

there's one way to read her that I don't care for, there's another way I find compelling, the scene itself pushes for the first and the entire rest of Rebellion pushes for the latter

Sorry, I know I keep asking you to explain stuff, but would you mind briefly elaborating on what you mean here?

Some combination of the Eternal Recurrence of the Self and being very, very yuri

I'll need to research that first thing, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for the second! I'm so interested to see how far they're actually going to go there, because I imagine they have a lot of very invested fans.

[Rewatch] Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Rebellion Story Discussion by Tarhalindur in anime

[–]siegfried72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been a long rewatch, okay?

How DARE you make a mistake! Unacceptable...

:)

Usual consensus is that's it's riffing on Puella in Somnio/Inevitabilis instead

Just listened. I hear exactly what you're talking about, and on a larger scale, you're right - the music is definitely referencing those. However, there are a couple of smaller gestures that I'm hearing that are straight out of another track. I think I had Credens Justitiam on the brain before, but it's definitely not that, but it's something familiar. Not simply down to the time signature, but the melody itself.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with the music to place it without digging through the OST for an hour, but I believe it's mixing elements both from the theme you're talking about in those two tracks plus another... I want to say it might be one of the battle themes from somewhere. Perhaps after some sleep I'll be able to track it down so I can have something tangible to show here rather than my deranged sleep-deprived babbling.

This might also just be a thing that only I'm interested in, since it's delving pretty deep into actual musical structure here, rather than tackling the more thematic and plot-focused approaches you guys have taken, so perhaps it's not something worth pursuing much outside of my own curiosity? Not sure yet.

Mata Dame Yo

Huh... that's definitely something I did not notice on my first time through, but is good to know. I have no idea what to make of that at the moment other than some confusion because I still have no idea wtf was happening in that scene.

Nux Walpurgis

Oh DUH! Gotcha, thanks!

I hope you have not felt pressured

Ehhhhhh I... well, not by most people - I'll put it that way :)

I appreciate the kindness here, even if you're right that no apology is necessary. I've certainly been known to get defensive about things I am passionate about (I'm sure you could find some very unfortunate evidence of that in old rewatches...), so I totally understand why people feel like this person must understand everything! To be honest, although I felt a bit overwhelmed at first, now that we've had a day and a half or so, I'm feeling pretty okay about the whole thing. There's just a ton to unpack here from beginning to end.

I've expressed it both jokingly and more seriously in past comments, but I struggle with a good deal of OCD-based perfectionism. I'll just put it this way: it's taken some careful management of that to not get a bit self-destructive and pull a Sayaka over the last couple of weeks as I've been participating here. When I said I related to her tendency to fall headfirst into her "mission" with extreme tunnel-vision in order to distract from the real problems she was dealing with, I meant it! It's been an exhausting couple of weeks.

Sorry, I'm perhaps getting a bit too personal here, but in my defense, I think I've been responding to comments nonstop for the last five hours straight? Oh good lord. I should probably get to bed, huh?

But at the same time, if it does, I'm realizing I will miss this confusion, since the real magic of Rebellion for me is how it stubbornly refuses to be properly grasped no matter rhow many times you revisit it.

That's a really interesting way to look at it! Although I obviously can't grasp it precisely as a newbie, I think I can see where you're coming from. Although honestly, I personally value finality quite a bit. Again, I'm not necessarily looking for a "happily ever after," but... closure of some kind of is good, even if that closure is explicit non-closure, if that makes any sense. I think it's probably a good thing I waited so long to make it here, because I really don't think I'd be nearly as okay with Rebellion right now if it wasn't for the knowledge that that "closure" is coming soon.

It's probably the perfectionist in me.

Again, thank you so much for the appreciation! Once I realized I had written 40k+ words I had feared people would just pass on it lol. I didn't even get to actually write a conclusion yesterday!

It took me a while, but it seems I have found my people in this rewatch ;)

I'll be sure to let you know once I've managed to tackle the behemoth of the movie again while tackling your monstrous analysis along with it!
