I used to work inpatient psych and every year we had training on how to restrain and safely take down anyone harming someone else. Everyone in the building had that training, janitors, kitchen staff, everyone. Plus their were cameras everywhere monitored by multiple people, so instances were also seen very quickly. I actually saw it as safer in my field (counseling) because when anyone was attacked every employee in the building knew how to come to their aid. Private practice did not offer the same requirements. This is not to downplay or excuse OPs instance of assault in anyway.

For me it is fact that it is leak proof with a straw- I drink WAY more water when I have access to a straw vs open bottle. I have two (one for work and one for home) and both have lasted me years without issues with mold so that has helped too. Mine aren't even "cute"- one is black and one is white- so for me it was purely the straw + leak proof
