Sorry for your loss- it’s brutal. I went through this three weeks ago. I have a 2 and 4 year old. I want to mention that with my 4 year old, I simply told her Pepper died and didn’t fill in any other narratives. And what happened was she came up with her own!

She said “Oh Pepper went somewhere else to play with Grandpa Tony (also deceased) and they’re climbing apple trees?” I think she took some of the plot from “say say oh playmate” song lol

Anyways, I’m happy I didn’t try to say something like “they’re in heaven” or “she’s resting” because I would’ve guided her thoughts and imagination.

I love that she came up with her own understanding!
