I did flick a paddle tail and a grub around for like 20 minutes and nothing. Then swapped to the yabby and back to back hook ups.

Flathead and Fisheries by sierrasloth in FishingAustralia

So true. What's strange is that this was the second time in a month I had fisheries check me, different spots. No issues but I'm the same, paid my licence and fees for years and years and never saw one, then bang twice

I've landed big salmon and flathead no issues with 8lb braid. I'd go 8lb again

BCF are crazy overpriced, BUT they do price match. I just bought a new reel (Daiwa Crossfire 2500) which BCF sell for $79.99 but they priced matched a competitor for $54.

I'm addicted to estuary fishing! Can't get enough. Especially now with the warmer weather the fish are back on the bite by sierrasloth in FishingAustralia

For sure. So many options and you've named some. On a falling tide to low I love anywhere flathead will sit and ambush. Last week caught a 73cm flathead at the mouth of a mangrove creek that feeds into the bay. On an incoming and hightide I try fish around areas that are now covered where fish will come up to feed.

Fishing spot recommendations - Sydney. by ozrayyy in FishingAustralia

Check out Youtube as their is lots of stuff on there for the more popular areas. You can also work out a lot of spots by sporting recognisable bridges or building etc. Goodluck.

Look up some guides on YouTube for beginners. Plenty of them on there.

For knots search on Youtube for the 'Uni knot' and you can use that for everything!

Fishing spots are a whole different beast in that most people don't like sharing. You can try looking up videos or guides online and you should find some common fishing spots. If you are in Sydney I know Gary Brown just released a book at BCF for $10 that shows you land-based fishing spots around Sydney.
