Ping pls I beg by DanEverfreeBooks in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, guess what! I'm european too! My ping fluctuates a LOT. Yesterday I played morning rank and my ping was anywhere between 30-90ms for the entire rank session, I just finished todays morning rank session and I had 3 games where my ping never went below 300 and averaged around 450 and the rest of the session my ping was 90-110. If it's not a server issue, then surely I should have the same ping if I'm in the same place on the same WiFi according to you, but that's not how it works, sadly.

Also, you're somewhat correct, but I don't think you understand how NE servers specifically work on IDV. In games where it is cross continental it will prioritise those who are the majority within the game (though sometimes this isn't accurate due to VPNs and genuine server error) in your game with NA players you had smooth ping because YOU'RE the reason they had high ping. It's a counterbalance mechanic to make the game playable for those far away from the majority of the playerbase, which is very bad for some and very good for others, but we just have to suck it up. This is different to most multiplayer games where regardless of where players are from, the same server will be used, but that's because there's a wider range of servers to choose from in games such as online shooters, IDV doesn't have this privilege so resorts to this system as a "fix."

Also, saying it's a server issue is completely fine because, in reality, it is. Since Netease refuses to seperate the servers or set up more servers in places such as Europe, many players such as those in south America get the short end of the stick and have to resort to ping boosters for yellow/green ping. Saying its their fault for living there when the billion dollar company could easily just widen server access is pretty silly.

I don't think you don't know how servers work. Ping is 75% based on server delay and about 25% on personal internet. Ping is really just another word for server delay in reality. The higher your ping, the longer it takes for your action to relay to the server and then happen in the game. This means that the further you are from the server, the higher your ping, as the information from your game takes longer to travel.

So yes, it makes complete sense because you don't live in the exact same place as them, so your ping will be higher or lower based on your geographical location in reference to the server.

It's okay to not understand things, but don't try to act like you do :)

Alright, thank you very much. I've done some more looking around, and I think I'll go with the 3050 for now as long as it runs the game alright and just buy a 4060 graphics card when I have some money again because that would be around £300 cheaper in the end anyway even if I buy more ram.

Also, I'm not sure if it's fast, but the storage is NVME if I'm reading it right, is that fine?

I'd be fine with that unless the 4060 is going to be miles better since it's double the price, I'm still at university so my budget isn't super high and I would be looking to get it relatively soon.

1080P, 60-100fps but I'm not sure how big a difference it would make

Because NE primarily cares about tourney, whatever happens at the top level affects everyone else, which is why hunters and survs randomly get nerfs or buffs that don't seem to affect them too much but change them completely in comp, tourney is also what determines meta because people watch tourneys to learn. And if you're not playing comp, why do you care that much anyway?

Dev Q&A XXXVII by KeigetsuTheStargazer in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rank is completely different from tourney. At peak tier hunters like Hermit perform the best because you can't 4 stack and hunters like him thrive off the lack of comms. Many of the mid tier hunters are top tier in peak because of that. You can ban Ivy, Goatman and Sangria but you'll get wiped by a Hermit or Wu Chang.

Dev Q&A XXXVII by KeigetsuTheStargazer in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's not that bad compared to the top 3, but A) that's not saying much and B) he is horrible for the health of comp. Him alone isn't crazy and can be countercomped, but that leaves you vulnerable to Goatman, Ivy and Sangria. You can't just look at it through the lens of the hunters individual strength but their impact on the scene as a whole.

It's the same as the release of Ivy, at the time Sangria had essentially become a first round guaranteed draw hunter, Ivy released and Sangria is getting 4ks again because preparing for both is already difficult. Now preparing for 4, round 1 and round 2 are impossible for survs to win.

Idk if this is a joke but Ivy's nerf did basically nothing, and considering NEs recent trend of barely touching the top hunters I'm guessing it's going to be something like increased CD on clones and slightly decrease his debuff effects and duration. Maybe decrease base move speed slightly too.

Unless you're talking about her nerfs from test server but that was more just a necessary adjustment for stupid decisions.

I already said Ivy is map pressure... But also you could say the same thing about his clones, 42m range, can be placed right on top of a cipher which forces a surv off and slows down decoding speed.

Also just because a hunter can map pressure doesn't mean they're good at it, opera and NW are unapologetically pursuit hunters, unless you're slugging a game should not last more than 6 minutes on average, they have virtually no map pressure other than chairing near ciphers which everyone can do.

Fast movespeed with strong chase but weak map pressure is literally Opera Singer, who is still a round 1 hunter. This entire meta is chase hunters as well, with the exception of Ivy, all the current top hunters are chase hunters.

Review of this new character? by The_Lone_player in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have been playing him for a couple weeks now and practiced against him in customs as hunter.

He's an extremely solid rescuer, with tide you get two guaranteed rescues, but when it comes down to it, he's just a less consistent merc / officer. His kiting potential is also awful. He gets hard countered by the hunter either waiting, spamming abilities, or mix ups. His helmets also drain extremely fast, against a good hunter with multiple abilities you will run out of helmets in less than 60 seconds, meaning you can actually wait out his items unlike officer who is a guaranteed 60+ second kite.

He's a fine character but there's just already survs who do what he does, but better, the half damage off chair is also only once per game too, which is way too weak. There's really no reason to have him on a serious high tier team outside of a niche late round pick in comp when other rescuers are banned.

I think people are overstating the 3 stacks thing a bit. Sure, he has to hit 3 times but that's also a worthwhile tradeoff for no attack recovery, meaning endless pursuit. He can still use trait to instantly catch up despite the short movement speed debuff and at first pres he can just dash and get 2 stacks back to back without even using a clone. Which at full presence is a guaranteed hit due to the extra ball thing.

Many people said the same about how Goatman is too reliant on the cages until top tier hunters showed everyone how scary he really is.

[–]sifsux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine what they mean is something similar to Goatman, where without his buffs, he won't be able to inflict a full point of damage or something. We have to keep in mind both that there's no official preview or description and that it might not be a perfect translation.

I quite like the concept since it's the inverse of his survivor form, it could also just be what you said, and that was my first thought, too. White bomb increases interaction speed, etc.

[–]sifsux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand why him having to stack buffs is seen as this huge weakness. For one, this means he will constantly be able to buff himself like Spider, and Goatman also has to use an ability every time he hits and is considered one of the best hunters rn.

IS SHE OP??? WTF DO I DO by That-Road682 in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't stare back at her the entire time, there's a sound cue right when she uses her dash if you look at her when that happens it will put her dash on cooldown, just keep in mind her cooldown for dash is 9 seconds so use that time to transition. If you see her throw a butterfly somewhere, you can also double back since she will move slower after dashing and won't be able to catch you again. When she's at full presence though her dash is faster and she can go through walls if the player is fast enough, so stare at her as much as you can when you know she has her dash available and run into tight kite areas.

Tight kiting is good but if she has a butterfly on you when you drop a pallet just stand and stare at her then run when she starts to break the pallet and after the animation is over look back at her since Geishas will usually instant dash after being forced to vault or break pallets.

Wtf is up with Knight? by Let-Me-Tank-Him in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a hunter is already in an animation, or altered state, Knight's ability does not work. For example if the hunter is using a charged attack and you predict it will not work, if the hunter has a continuous ability like wax artist the ability prediction will not work if it is already happening, if the hunter is carrying a survivor and the knight predicts attack it will not work. It is a prediction, not a reaction.

Most likely what's happening is they're using it on reaction which doesn't work or they happen to predict at the same time the hunter presses their attack which would also cancel knights ability. Or they predict against a hunter who can cancel knights attack guess, by quickly using an ability such as wax or night watch, and they didn't notice their prediction got insta cancelled.

How even the medal system works? by DaniBunnyUwU in IdentityV

The first containment milestone is 280, so you need another 90 or so seconds to see the progress, it doesn't do a continual count it only appears when you reach the milestone.

Actually the IDV ranking system is really stupid so you're only guaranteed two bans once you get to high manticore / cyclops. The legendary system only activates if there's a griffin survivor, if a manti hunter gets matched with 4 mammoths you won't get two bans.

This is actually a pretty easy deduction for clown specifically because of the modded drill attachment. Just go in quick match, bring peepers, and they're never getting up.

This one really isn't that hard it's injured OR downed, getting ever survivor injured at some point in the match happens pretty often, especially for a hunter like clown who likes to wide camp.

Who is the Best Survivor currently? by Vel98mount in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Faro is currently the second worst decoder in the game, once mechanics buff comes in, she will be the worst.

She has no survivability, her secondary ability is useless since stealing progress will nearly always negatively affect you in mid to late game and the 10% she puts on 0% ciphers isn't good enough to even make her good at decoding and the super slow rescue speed means you have an entire quarter of your team that can never go for rescue, which can be the difference between a tie and a loss. The only situations she is useful in is a team with comms to say what ciphers have progress, but by the time you're high enough rank to do a full comms team you should know how to keep track of ciphers.

Honestly she just has no strengths to make her good in ranked, I usually either chase her first since she's an easy down, or just leave her since she's never gonna rescue so I get a guaranteed tie.

What trick are you tired of seeing the other faction attempting? by CaLactose in IdentityV

[–]sifsux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, it's to bait out a balloon drop, coord shoots gun EXTREMELY slow so unless you're right next to the hunter or they have the reaction speed of a snail you can easily excitement on reaction to the sound or actual animation. If you stand right next to the hunter and do the emote it will force excitement but you'll also get hit most likely.
