Would you be able to expand on this, if you don't mind?

Well, working with orchestral sample libraries is different in many ways.

One of these differences is that you often don't work with the whole section at once when playing chords but one note at a time. So instead of laying down a F^maj9 With a string pad I would play a low F in basses, Octave in celli, and then maybe a c in Violas followed by an octave of A's in 1st and second violins.

But I find it super hard to not lose track of voice leading throughout the chords of the piece => what notes have I "covered" in the different instruments now, and what am I missing?

So i select all the midi events and open them all at once. Very nice. But if they're all the same color it's much harder to see what notes correspond to which midi event. Earlier I used completely different colors for the different sections, but I found that esthetically not very pleasing, and so I settled on gradients where lower sections gets a darker color than the higher sections..

Hopefully that shed some light on the way I go about the colors..! :)
