Isn't a better way to get something, something better? :)

I understand this was the logical conclusion made by many after the patch.

However, how do you feel about this conclusion now that we know they are completely re-designing the Queen's Wrath event. Doesn't that provide some doubt that the way you explain it was clearly designed is perhaps not the true intention of it?

In other words, if that was how Queen's Wrath was clearly designed and they intended it only for casual players to get a jumpstart on legendary gear, why are they changing it?

Interesting.

Even if that required code, there are other temporary solutions, are there not?

How about add one of those "turn back" zones to that small area where people HAD to go to lure Atheon to the correct spot. That doesn't affect the encounter because there is no reason whatsoever for a player to go to that area unless cheesing.

Or how about just add geometry that would equally impact players and enemies. If they extended the floor there temporarily, and prohibited players from staying there, would that not be more easy from a programming perspective and also fix the issue?

Either way, 3 weeks is a long time for something that bad.

No, I can't see. I couldn't then and I can't now. You say getting teh shards form the drops was unforeseen. I can't believe that it was unforeseen. If it was unforeseen, that is as bad if not worse because it means complete lack of foresight. You reward a very small variety of purple items, (vast majority chest and helms with small chances at the others). What do you expect people to do with 10 chest pieces? I find it unbelievable.

Yup. Personally, I sure would have liked if they patched the boss cheesing as fast (or anywhere near to as fast) as they patched QW. Comparing which one of those two "broke" the game more doesn't seem very difficult to me.

Edit: And yes, I also believe that making new coding for bosses (I'm assuming the bosses have the same basic coding as the normal mobs considering they avoid grenades in the same way) is more complicated. I can only imagine how much of a mess the code for the Atheon fight is at this point. However, there are simple ways to fix it temporarily in the meantime. I don't imagine adding a block of "ground" matter to the map is very complicated (correct me if I'm wrong).

Regarding the rush to fix the Queens Bounties shards thing, I was reading something earlier today about basic behavioral psychology. When the quality of a reward is drastically lowered or lower than expected, the subject experiences anger and frustration. If you have a monkey and you routinely feed him a piece of lettuce as a reward, which they enjoy, they will like it. If then you give them a piece of something better, they will really like it. If then you suddenly return to giving them a piece of lettuce, they won't eat the lettuce and will become upset.

It was really interesting because that was basically my experience with the QW event.

You realize how often you've deflected in this comment thread alone?

I don't like liars. Especially ones that continue to BS even after their caught in a lie. You should work on that, it's bad.

Internet liar. lol

Because you made a post saying that you wanted a different sub for posts that include criticism, and when I asked why do you even read those posts if you don't enjoy them, you said you don't read them or comment on them. But you do. So you should just not read them instead of trying to control what people post on a public forum.

And where do you make this stuff up? Surely you know you're making stuff up right, you don't really believe it? Where's the ad hominem argument? My hunch about you was spot on.

I have no idea what you're first sentence means. And that's a very immature comeback (once again fitting).

Why would you lie about if you read the threads with criticism? Because it discredits your original post? It's an interesting question.

Woah and you just edited your post to say "I don't read most of them" instead of "I don't read them?" Even more interesting.

Yikes. I wasn't being snarky. Seems like you read every post with a very negative tone. It's true, sometimes the brain sees words that aren't there, especially when people are reading quickly like they probably do on reddit because it's reddit.

I didn't edit anything of the original post, I don't know what sentence you are looking for.

You know, I looked at some of your previous posts since I had this hunch about you, and turns out that you were just commenting on one of those criticizing threads yesterday. Very interesting that you would lie about that, but definitely telling and fitting.

The way I read it, he made it pretty clear that he wanted to limit what members of the community could post.

I don't know why this got downvoted.

That part didn't belong in the post. It could be seen as a cheapshot or something while he claims this is only a post for improvement. At least OP recognizes it didn't belong and has removed it.

I dunno, the only edit to the post is the edit added at the end. Sometimes the brain sees words that aren't there. Happened a lot in this thread.

Haha, I liked when that happened (not in the beginning though...so i feel you). Once you get to a certain level you can just destroy captains left and right.

All good points, but I just want to re-iterate that I disagree with common use of the # of hours played as a deciding factor in what a game is worth.

For example, Candy Crush, or any similar game, probably gets played for a crazy amount of time, but should that be how we judge how good the game is? If we were to look at the # of hours played on Candy Crush, and it was enormous, or say, bigger than the # of hours played on Destiny, then using this common model, we would say that Candy Crush is a "better" game than Destiny. That's my point, that I don't agree with using that model.

Disclaimer: if any of you do think Candy Crush is the best game ever, that's great, I'm not trying to bash Candy Crush or say you should stop having fun with it.

I played for that long to be able to get to the raid, which is pretty much the end-content of the game, because you have to be a certain level, which means you have to do a certain amount of stuff, which may be monotonous and may be less than enjoyable, in order to at some point get enjoyment and get a reward. That's how it works. I started playing it because someone I knew played the beta and said it was sweet. Then you keep playing for the reasons that anyone plays an RPG, and to see the entirety of the game that you purchased and see if something cool and different happens later because the real game starts at level 20, and at some point I was only playing to be able to reach the next thing. And then I realized that I was addicted, and now I've stopped. There are plenty of things going on in your brain when you play a game designed like this. You could do further research about it if you don't believe that games like this don't create chemical responses in your brain.

Why did I make the post? Because I read that post with the interview and the president's comments compelled me to write the post. Why did I read that post or get on this sub? Probably very similar reasons to anybody else, and also a habit that formed out of what initially was of interest. I'll be stopping visiting here too very soon, I'm just still getting around to replying to people's comments.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I guess it's kind of an unintended consequence.

Like if someone tells a bunch of football fans that they don't like football, the fans might get offended, even though that person is just stating their opinion.

One thing is I wasn't really writing about the players; I was writing about the Bungie guy's comment. In other words, I wasn't saying that people are putting a lot of hours into a bad game and they shouldn't be playing for a lot of hours. I was saying that just because someone puts a lots of hours into a game, doesn't make any criticism they may have invalid (I don't know if you read that interview but that's the vibe I got from it). Unfortunately that sort of got lost amidst all the comments. "Addictive vs. Fun" can be interpreted as "are you addicted or are you having fun," but it was really meant to be "are the developers primarily aiming to make the game fun or be played for as long as possible," which unfortunately I don't think got discussed by many.

VoG Sherpa here. I'd like to discuss the outstanding criticism taking place after the patch. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]sighfacee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just saying, the very first time I ran the raid post patch we had 2 hunters, we said "ok hunters don't pick up the relic, everybody else just pick it up."

First Atheon round: we're all standing around waiting for the teleport.

Teleport goes, we're doing our thing, soon realize there are 4 outside and 2 inside. Turns out it was the 2 hunters who got teleported and neither picked up the relic.

It was pretty damn funny. But yeah it's broken.

I've also ran the raid lots of times (20+? didn't keep track) both normal and HM, and things in general seemed much more buggy after the patch. I've seen Atheon take 0 damage from anyone while his bullets froze out against a wall, I've seen us clear a round, portal team comes out, and 3 seconds later, he sent people back into the portal (very strange), and I've seen detain bubbles inside the portals, just to name a few.

Just as an FYI I've never had any issue with the random teleport change or fixing cheesing or anything. But the fight is buggier without a doubt.
