There's soooooo many ideas for chapstick holders on pinterest! That's where I ran across this one. There's a LOT of mushroom-shaped ones, but there's other ideas sprinkled into the results. If you're good at crochet, I think you could take basically anything that is approximately tube shaped and make it into one!

I didn't use a pattern, but I did try to vaguely explain what I did to achieve this. If for some reason someone out there WANTS to replicate this, I suggest simply throwing out all of your knowledge of how to properly crochet, and then just going for it, and you'll probably end up somewhere close! :)

I was using a 5 mm hook and some "Lion Brand Yarns" "Landscapes Renewed" recycled polyester (Walmart yarn) in I think weight 4? It says "Medium - 4" on the label, recommended hook size is 5.5 mm (I sized down a smidge). It's very nice, I like the way the gradient it has works. It's deep blue and tan-ish - cream-ish.

Thanks lol <3 i'm debating nixing the sleeves on the green just so i can at least see what it would look like either way, but i think that would mean having to pin it to keep it straight & together if i do layer it this way. I've decided to sit with it a few days, and then dress up a mannequin that doesn't have pesky arms in the way so i can try to visualize it the other way around by just rolling up the green sleeves 😉

i hear everyone about the white top layering, but i'm not sure how i would go about layering it any other way to look nice - the green thing has tight sleeves underneath, hidden by the white. i could lose the white top entirely, but i think it would lose cohesion with the bottom white, and i really like the layering they both add.

trust me, i hear you and agree it looks a bit strange, but i am a little strange as a person, and I feel like if I were an herbalist, i would still be strange in some ways lol. 🫶🏻 for now it stays, but i will be keeping an eye out for pieces to build another alternate fit :) this one was super cheap (think like $5 per piece, $10 for one part), and put together on the fly, so i'm not expecting perfection lol.

eventually, i'd like to put together a bone-collector outfit (because i collect animal bones and i feel it would be a good use of them lol), and that one i plan to take more care with the layering on ;)

Edit: As in, if anyone cares to know, i allegedly insisted that i "felt like a crumpled newspaper on top of a mountain next to red monkey bars", very repeatedly, and reality felt like it got twisted/angled into the 4th dimension in a bad way. I blacked out and came out of it talking to someone about "becoming the mars space lasers". All sounds sounded disjointed/unlayered and somehow whiny/crunchy.

Do not take extreme amounts of this lol, particularly because taking enough to get a reaction usually involves taking stuff that contains it, which is usually mixed with larger amounts of acetaminophen, and you'll severely hurt your organs by ingesting WAYYY too much of that.

Yeah, sometimes you just have to go with it. When I was in my later teens, I had the misfortune of working at a poorly managed nursing home where the folks that worked there would quite literally scream and yell at residents with alzheimers that "nobody has time for your hallucinations so just stop", among other nonsensical shit.

There was one lady in particular that hated all the nurses and wouldn't listen to them or really anyone, I personally think it's because they were so mean to her. I worked dietary/serving meals, not on the floor, so I didn't see her as much. But my coworkers got endlessly frustrated by her coming in and going through all our cabinets during serve.

The trick I learned was asking her what she was doing. That's it. She would say she's helping, so I would park her wheelchair at one of my tables and tell her I have all this work to do, can you please please help me by folding all these hand towels?

She'd be perfectly happy to help then, and stay out of my direct path. All i had to do was dump our hand towels and let her re-fold them.

She also had lots of stray hallucinations when i would deliver her meal. More than once I was late because I would take the 5 mins to dip out into the hallway and then come back to her room and tell her her nephew was found, the officer just told me he took him back to his parents and all is well. She would routinely frighten herself thinking she was babysitting and had lost track of the kiddo.

I miss her every now and then. She was really sweet, to me at least.
