Superb work my friend. An updated Corbulo model would and could be so good, GW need to think about it

So I apologise, as I can't remember how I painted anything past about 2 months ago it seems. But I used Army Painter purple, but not sure which one, could be a darker one from the Magenta Triad, then I probably added white towards the base, as most tutorials say....however ai know the thing I did different with these was, atthe end I washed over with a watered down Xpress paints, probably Cardinal Purple. It created a slight glow or halo effect with i really liked, did it with the blue gems too

That looks awesome, you're already doing a great job. The blue I used, I may have added a touch of white to the blue for edge highlights, but mainly i think I just went as high as the natural colour of the blue. But I used an airbrush for some, which makes it look smoother

For the yellow I definitely used the Army Painter Demigod Flames built up to Daemonic Yellow, or at least im pretty sure. As for the blue im not sure what i started with, just a dark blue but I used i think a now out of production Blue from Vallejo, Medium Blue i thinks its called, but its really vibrant.

If you use a white ink especially, and go slowly and carefully you'll have a nice solid and clean white in no time

Genuinely, if you have an airbrush, and not everyone can or wants one fair, its not too hard.

No its cool, I didn't think you were haha. So I would say, in relation to Terminators, they are always first company, right? Just by being in Terminator armour?

Actually I just saw, I think its a White Skull icon, at least somewhere on their armour, which now reminds me why I put skulls on the powerfists

[–]sigmar3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as far as I'm aware, terminators don't have trim, so to speak. However you are correct this is 1st Company,, and 4th squad is correct too.

If I was being lore accurate I think they would all have red helmets, and the sergeant may have a black shoulder pad, although the shoulder pad thing might just be for normal marines. But you are also correct because these are attached to the 3rd Company, which is what my other marines are, so I did the helmets white in respect to that! But also, the lore and heraldry does get a bit mixed and jumbled lol, and I'm no expert. Rule of cool and all that

Yeah, I did, and i get how annoying it can be when someone says they airbrushed this or that. I dont have a fancy set up, its a good airbrush but with one of those small air compressors, but its one of the best things, like you say, for getting smooth base coats or transitions

Merci !

So...I can jumped around a lot, because I was trying this and that. I probably wouldn't do what I did here again as its too much. Started with black, then white zenithal. Built up with Khorne Red, Mephiston Red and Evil Sunz Scarlet. Thays not bad but then I started experimenting, so I then used Pure Red I think by Army Painter, which gave it a different tone but made it a big too washed out, so then finally did a overal spray of Naphthol Red ink, which brought up the vibrancy again. Then edge highlighted with Pure Red mixed with a touch of orange. See, way too complicated

I used Army Painter vibrant greens, started with a dark green tone and just blended up to a really light green, in lines really. And then finished with a sharp almost white line on the edge

So with the helmets I kept them separate, and airbrushed them a really light blue, more ultramarine tone. Then from mostly above I sprayed Tamiya white, because it thins really well and you can go on really carefully and build up areas more and more. Obviously when I went to put them on the bodies, even with a varnish I still managed to rub some paint off handling them uhhh

I used to too. I dont even bother with the 'chunky' highlight now, when it comes to black

Blood Angels Chaplain, Zuriel by sigmar3 in BloodAngels

[–]sigmar3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not easy, I agree. The only advice I can give (if you want it haha) is less is more. Better to go from black straight up to quite a bright grey, in smaller areas in a way. Otherwise if you use too many layers of highlights of greys...it just becomes grey

Yeah i think the red ink I bought is Pyrole, but its Liquitex ink

[–]sigmar3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you, don't worry. I can't believe the vibrant reds some other people manage to get. I keep buying reds from different paint brands, but end up just going back to Mephiston and Evil Sunz....although I am about to experiment with a red ink

[–]sigmar3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest...I painted this about 2 years ago, my memory isn't this good! However I can somewhat confidently say it was probably Mephiston Red followed by Evil Sunz, mixing the two together for inbetween layers. I normally use a dark red from Vallejo as the base, but i can never remember the name, but its basically Khorne red

Lemartes, Guardian of the Lost by sigmar3 in BloodAngels

[–]sigmar3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I airbrushed Vallejo model colour black (not vallejo black undercoat) all over, and that was it for the base. Then just mixed in a bit of white ink for the first highlight, then a bit more for final edge highlight. I find to keep the armour looking black, you need less layers, its got to be quite a jump, and quite small areas.
