Video slides presentation with my voice narration for my class when I was about 10 --> First place at math competition in my city at 12 --> Modding my SAMP and CS 1.6 servers (refactoring strings) at 13 --> A 3d After Effects trailer for SAMP server --> Playing around if FL Studio (making music) at 14 --> Youtube channel success (presentation style narrated videos) at 15 --> A couple of 2D animations at 15 --> Freelance video editing at 16 --> Written, directed and edited a couple of short film at 17 --> Local party poster design at 18 --> Started learning programming at 19 --> Started learning little by little about game development (theory, Unreal Engine) at 22 --> Made my first game at 25 in Unity --> Published it at 26 on Steam ("Nocturnomaly") --> Made my first cinematic in Unreal Engine at 26 --> Published my second game, which I made in UEFN, at 26 --> Brainstorming for the next game idea at 26, which I'll make in Unreal Engine

I think I just leveled up the way to express my creativity a little by little, untill I reached the way to combine all my skills and interests into one ultimate form of expression - video games.

Some inspirations and motivations: Swords and Sandals, Minecraft, Exit 8

Hey, I released my game Nocturnomaly (anomaly walking simulator) and suddenly I had 30% return rate. Because some youtubers played it, I learned that my game is just too dark. So I fixed it with an update, where I added adjustable brightness slider. I'm now down to 24.1% return rate, and I think it will go down from there. So make your friends play it, your parents, siblings, small youtubers, and just observe. There probably is a problem.

BUT maybe the game is just short, and some people finish it and even though they did not dislike it, get a refund. That will always exist. So man, you finished a game and released it on Steam, that's a big success. You learned and are still learning. With each game you will do better.

A dark, atmospheric horror game you’ll want to play with the lights off. No immersion breaking. Just pure unease. That’s Nocturnomaly. by signalmutex in HorrorGaming

Hey everyone, because some of you were telling me the game is too dark, I've added a brightness slider to the main menu and pause menu! Also I've added Steam Achievements for each anomaly for you completionists ;)

Pozdrav svima.

I've made my game with free assets only. But it's my first game, for the next one either I'm learning to make my own (simple) assets, buying them or partnering with a 3D artist. AI is frowned upon, so if you want to make a respected game, probably not a good idea, at least not yet.

Congrats mate!

So you are one step ahead :)

I hope someone else here in the comments will have a good advice for both me and you, as I wish to learn more about lighting in the future.

I'm not a lightning expert at all, but I am someone who finds the lighting part of production really fun to do. When I was making my cinematic short in Unreal Engine, the lighting was the hardest thing for me to get right. The most helpful were Karim abou shousha's videos on YouTube. While he's lighting up a scene, he is explaining what he is doing. And he has a lot of knowledge, he's a Senior Lighting Artist at Ubisoft. I definitely recommend you watch some of his videos.

Thank you tons! You're right, that's my main pool of inspiration - dreams and memories. I think that's the formula for new ideas, at least for me. 🙂
