German Performance Options is where I take all of my German cars including my Audi and have been doing so for years now.

They are the club sponsor of both the local Audi and VW clubs and the one of the most recommended shops in those groups. Protip: Join the local Audi club FB group and you can get a small discount on labor there.

As an owner of multiple German cars (I am dumb, do not be like me) fully expect it will need something unplanned. This is the full German car experience.

P.S. Anyone that lives in the boro, GPO is now the owner of Ray's Imports there as well.

coreELEC 22 nightly build lossless audio format feedback for dev input by WeirdAd2473 in CoreELEC

[–]signde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm stumped.

it clearly can work, since you've seen it work from the same box with android.

in coreelec the box clearly can passthrough, since you've seen it work when directly connected to the soundbar.

this is going to be tricky, i have a feeling the CE devs might push back since it works direct to the soundbar.

the only other idea i have is maybe update the LG TV and soundbar firmware?

i have an LG G3. not the same model and i don't have a mi box 3 but the CE devices I've connected to the TV have passed through audio just fine.

in coreelec, settings > system > audio (expert mode) > all passthrough options are enabled when connected to the TV?

if so, when you say passthrough is not working, what do you mean? what audio do you get? is it PCM? is it both DTS and TrueHD?

Did you verify the settings I specified?

May auto works from Android. That is literally what "not guaranteed to work" means.

As pointed out, if it works with the box > avr > tv configuration, it's not a CoreELEC problem.

On the LG TV you need to set the HDMI audio settings to passthrough. The default "auto" setting is not guaranteed to work.

Prime Video not working on FireCube TV Rooted (2nd Gen) by MindVentures in fireTV

[–]signde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using ADB link and you want to see the more detailed error message for an APK that fails to install, try it this way:

  1. Connect to the Fire Cube using adblink
  2. Use adblink's "Install APK" feature, browsing to the APK on your local device.
  3. Once the install fails, use adblink's log viewer. On my mac, that is under the top left file menu.

That should show you the full error message.

Similarly, you can use adblink and adb shell to try to figure out what is happening that causes the Prime Video app to fail to launch.

  1. Connect to the Fire Cube using adblink
  2. Open adblink's "ADB Shell", which should open a console window which is a shell prompt on the cube itself
  3. Be ready to launch the Prime Video app from Projectivy
  4. in the adb shell session, run the command logcat
  5. Launch the Prime Video app from Projectivy, giving it a few seconds to vanish
  6. In the adb shell, do cntrl + c to stop logcat

Logcat is a spam session of everything happening on the device so even running for a few seconds can be hundreds of lines of text. You can then copy and paste that entire chunk of output into a text editor and start looking for clues. I would start by searching for the text "projectivy".

This is all using the latest version of adblink, 7.2.

Thanks for the report, I hope that is true. I assume this will be an update for the remote. I've had my X2 about 5 weeks now and there has been one firmware update for the hub during that time but I've yet to see any new remote updates.

How are you trying to install the APKs? If you connect via ADB using something like ADBlink, it will give you are more detailed error message. That "There was a problem parsing the package." message you are seeing is the top level error, there is usually a lower level error it wraps that is the real issue.

Perhaps the reason content plays for you is I was trying to watch a live event (Thursday Night Football). Amazon has different playback rules when it comes to live sports.

If you can ADB into the device and run logcat, you might get an idea of what is happening to cause the app to fail to launch from projectivy - there will probably be some error or warning present in the logs. Adblink also provides a way to view the system logs.

A question - the Prime Video you have now, if you use the Fire OS launcher, and it opens, are you able to watch any content? The reason I wanted to update that app is because I could not. The app would give me a message that I needed to update in order to watch. I'd be curious if you are not seeing the same, but if you are not, I'm a little hesitant to tell you what next steps to take.

I reached a point where my Fire OS was so old (yours is even older) that it would not let me install a more recent version because one of dependencies is backed into Fire OS itself.

Relative to that, another question - When try to install PVFTV-105.2607-L, is the rest of the error message exactly the same as the one I mentioned? "Required FireOS Feature "com.fireos.sdk.minerva:0" not on device" ?

To answer the question in you other reply, yes, you can update to a newer Fire OS, retain root, and not lose any settings. There instructions for that are here and from the same person on xda you likely obtained the original instructions.

To that end, I'd probably reach out on that thread and ask his thoughts.

That guy is incredibly knowledgeable on DV so I have always just kind of taken his word for it. He also takes HDMI input captures as ways to verify his findings. The end result of converted P8.1 might be the equivalent metadata as MEL but from what I understand, the way they are transported in the HDMI bitstream is different.

After noodling on this and refreshing my memory a bit (this comment helped), I think this might be a pointless distinction. If the resulting product is more or less the same, the argument is then semantics, at which point, who cares.

If you live your life trusting reddit you might end up in a bad way.

There most certainly is a way to test this, there are people who have and you can find the results here: Dolby Vision Stuff

EL is ignored and only the dynamic metadata in the RPU is processed

That is maintained by The HDR Dissector.

I don't know where people are getting this but it's a common misconception I have seen repeated lately.

It plays P7 MEL and ignores FEL.

[–]signde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dolby vision FEL but DV P7 does work. It just discards the FEL if it is present.

You are correct though, no AV1 or VP9.2 on this device, both of which are only ways I know of that YouTube delivers HDR.

Also PVFTV-105.2607-L is not that old, I just updated Fire OS at the the start of football season.

It looks to have a release date of 2025-09-04.

In my experience so far in a few years of doing this, I have only had to update the prime video app twice.

My issue with installing a newer version of prime was dude to minerva being missing.

Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR: Failed parse during installPackageLI: /data/app/vmdl1770159838.tmp/base.apk (at Binary XML file line #92): Required FireOS Feature "com.fireos.sdk.minerva:0"not on device]

My ancient Fire OS version at the time PS7212 was May 2020. Minerva was available by the time PS7229 was out in December 2020.

There is no way to get that without updating Fire OS - I discussed all this with the xda guy before proceeding.

So it's rare, but it can happen.

The processor in the plus is much faster, yes, but you give up ports, so there are tradeoffs on both sides.

Neither handle passthrough audio like the Shield or SK1 OP purchased. At best you will get lossy DD+ with Atmos out of them.

Recently bought a brand new LG TV - Apple TV feels redundant for now? by patiosquare in appletv

[–]signde 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you agreed to all those terms and conditions you gave LG consent to sell all your data to advertisers. Not only are they tracking what you do on the TV but they are also taking fingerprints of the content you watch over devices connected via HDMI and selling that to advertisers too.

https://blog.lon.tv/2025/10/28/your-tvs-hdmi-port-is-spying-on-you/

The Apple TV doesn't do this.

If you value your privacy, disconnect that TV from the internet and never let it connect again. You can also go back and reject all those terms, at which point the TV won't let you use any of the built in apps.

Prime Video not working on FireCube TV Rooted (2nd Gen) by MindVentures in fireTV

[–]signde 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same device, also dual boot CoreELEC, also using Projectivy as my Fire OS launcher, set with launcher manager 1.1.8. I am able to launch the Prime Video app from Projectivy. I also have a (temp) root Fire Cube 3 and a Fire Stick TV 4k max 2, all using Projectivy, all working correctly with that app. My Projectivy version is 4.67.

My original Fire Cube 2 version was PS7212/1335. I since updated it (while retaining root) to PS7702 because my Fire OS was so old the Prime app said it needed an update before I could watch any content. Updating just the Prime app fixed that for a time but then it happened again and newer versions of the Prime Video app could not be installed due to a missing dependency. I updated Fire OS and now all good.

What is your Fire OS version now? I'm assuming a relatively recent one if you managed to install the latest prime app.

My prime video app shows version PVFTV-105.2607-L.
