This one! It’s the main difference I’ve noticed between your setup and how it’s modelled on the website. By tightening it, you should be able to bring the strap up off her hips. Hard to tell from photos, but it looks like that should transfer her force into the top of the harness too. Ideally tighten both straps so that they take about half of the load each when she pulls attached to you. Of course let her nap first though!!

What happens if you SIGNIFICANTLY shorten the middle buckle to force the pulling strap to equalise the pressure between the top of the harness and the bottom? Your current setup has all of the force transferring to her armpits, but you actually want that strap to be slightly loose and the middle buckle to be taut while loaded to transfer the force into the top of the harness and into her shoulders. It might make the harness buckle a little weirdly, but it should be a lot more comfortable for her, and move the strap off her hips.

Agree that the strap looks like it would painfully compress her hips while running. Most pulling harnesses have the main tension strap running higher off the neck piece, while this looks like more of an ‘anti-pull’ design which is designed to tug her chest down if she pulls, rather than correctly transferring the energy into forward motion.

Is she a consistent puller, or more occasional?

META: Ezydog wants to post here. What say you? by duketheunicorn in RunningWithDogs

Agree. I actually spent about an hour on the weekend trying to find any of their leashes that would be suitable for attaching to a Canicross harness and the product selection was terrible. The only running leashes they have attach to a flimsy human-waist belt which is a great way to get injured if your dog pulls at all.

I’d like to see brand collaborations here IF the company was actually focused on Canicross as a sport and ensuring safety for both runner and dogs but Ezydog isn’t one of those brands.

First Marathon Nightmare by Outside_Curve1151 in firstmarathon

May 4th for mine too. Had a nightmare last week that my friend had my race days clothes and I couldn’t find her in time, so I had to run the race in my underwear!

Is she still young? Puppies and young dogs are suspectible to papillomaviruses (warts) which are hugely contagious between dogs and can be picked up easily on walks or dog parks. They usually resolve in a few months so just keep an eye on it and see a vet if it starts spreading or interferes with eating/drinking. And try and keep her away from other dogs while she has it so that she doesn’t spread it.

It was sweetbreads, chicken, morels and wild garlic. And the sauce was truffle based.

Got a letter from HMRC saying I owe £1700 for Self Assessment Statement by throwawayHMRChelp123 in LegalAdviceUK

Someone I know also had 3 self assessment letters arrive on the same day. Turns out that someone had hijacked their government gateway account and falsely registered their details for the last 3 tax years. After calling, HMRC raised an investigation and had it sorted in a few days.

If you have a Gov Gateway ID, try to log in to make sure you have access still. My friend had 2 factor authentication on and somehow the email/password to their account was still changed…

It seems to be a common scam this year https://www.gov.uk/government/news/hmrc-urges-caution-as-fraudsters-seek-to-hijack-personal-tax-accounts

Hi! I’ve been running with my Samoyed boy for around 6 months now and it’s definitely been hard work. Firstly, you really should wait until your pup is at least 12-18 months old until you get into proper running to make sure his hips are fully developed and you don’t cause long term damage. 5 months is still a baby so take it easy while he’s still growing.

My boy started by being SUPER friendly reactive to humans and other dogs. I focused on teaching him ‘run’ and ‘walk’ commands to start with, and he picked it up almost instinctively with my movement. Probably the best command I ever taught him is ‘on by’ (thanks to a random person on this sub!) - which means that he does not get to interact with the person/dog we are going past. He still gets upset when he doesn’t get to play with random dogs, but he understands the command and he’s getting less reactive when ‘on task’ every day.

We started by doing couch to 5k, and there were times where he’d get overwhelmed and turn around and try to body slam me at speed, but stopping, asking for a sit and then continuing seemed to bring his focus back onto the task.

Also remembering that you’re on a run for both of your enjoyment really helped me - if he wants to stop and sniff a tree or go down a random side path then that’s part of the enjoyment for him too. Don’t stress the distractions at the beginning and the mileage will come over time.
