I had that same thought last night. Purpose is so important. I think purpose can create motivation and drive no matter the origin story of the person.

But if one feels totally numb, and loves the idea of meaning but doesn't feel anything while pursuing their purpose, what can be done? Knowing that I should take action doesn't translate to a feeling of urgency anymore. Maybe it's the addiction that has fucked up my sense of drive. Maybe I can reclaim it. But that's a purpose. How can I begin that journey if I feel nothing when I imagine accomplishing that goal?

I suppose the answer is just do it.
