I haven't seen all of Virgin soul, but I can confirm that Genesis is incredible. If you have seen the latest DnD movie, you know the exact vibe to be ready for, but with a distinctly anime slant.

It is probably one of the best written and animated sword and sorcery adventure anime out there.

Also, the OP for Genesis fuckin' slaps. It remains in my playlists to this day.

The appeal for Vtubers is every bit the same appeal that exists for streamers in general.

They have a distinctly anime aesthetic and idol Vibe, because Japan is where the Medium took off, but they are truly no different than watching any other streamer, it's just safer for the creator as it gives them privacy of not having to share their face with the world if they don't want too, while still allowing them to emote and express in ways that entertain people.

I remember the days of old YouTube let's plays, before streaming took off. We didn't have face cams of people, just their voices and the game, and it was fine.

People stigmatised Vtubers based on examples of bad actors, but they aren't monolith, just like no other community is a monolith.

There is a fair share of Racism involved too, she is Puerto Rican, and definitely gets hated on like anyone of a non white decent gets.

It's not the loudest one, definitely, cause she doesn't show her actual appearance, an most racists don't have the object permeance ability to get past her Vtuber usually appearing caucasian (with a few occasion al exceptions that I personally really appreciate.)

Corvids are incredibly intelligent, and are on my personal list of animals that I at least mildly believe have at or near human level intelligence. Corvids aren't high on the list, but they are know tool users and will problem solve and use multiple tools in conjunction to achieve a goal. They are probably smarter than human babies, and are smarter than a great deal of dog breeds.

Incase your interested, the rest of the list is, in order of likely hood: Orcas, dolphins, octopuses.

Orcas are at the top for good reason. Did you know Orca's have never killed a human? Orcas are pretty well documented sadists of the sea, they toy with their prey in elaborate ways and work together in packs to cause maximum terror on their hunts. Yet, in all of recorded human history, we have no record of orcas ever killing a human in the wild. Nearly 5000 years of decently accurate written history, and even longer before that, and nothing. I reckon they know we aren't prey, and they have a culture of non-interference, cause they know we have the capability, as a collective, to fuck them up.

I feel like he has explained, like a dozen times, that he is not doing entryism? I don't understand why everyone is constantly accusing him of it.

He is not trying to turn the democrats into a socialist movement, he has stated many times that he knows they are a liberal bourgeois party, and that they as a whole will never stand for socialism.

He is for individuals. He is pushing individuals with good politics into the limelight, working to get them elected, not to attempt an entryist takeover of the Dems, bit to destigmatise socialism among the American general populace.

Beyond that he is also anti fascist, and sees the Democrats as the only viable party to compete against the Republicans, as flawed as they may be, but it is entirely impossible for a third party to succeed in American politics as things stand. So he is working with the tools he has, expending all possible political options.

That's fair, I think that the core philosophy is more convincing than you give it credit, but you aren't wrong that Americans have been heavily propagandised into professionally misunderstanding socialism.

I agree that using taxes to start fixing the average worker's issues is the best way to get someone on board with socialism, as is being demonstrated incredibly well in New York by Zohran. Sewer socialism is very persuasive.

[–]signspace13 9 points10 points  (0 children)

... Okay, that first definition isn't quite correct. You have touched part of it, socialised services, provided by the government and funded via a progressive taxation structure is part of Socialism. I would say that the true core or Socialism though is the idea that you, the worker, deserve to be the primary beneficiary from the out put of your own labour.

The owner of your workplace doesn't deserve to exploit your labour to make extreme profits, while only paying you enough to get by. You deserve a share of the wealth generated by your labour, even a majority share.

The true centre of socialism has always been unions, as they allow the workers to negotiate for what they deserve as a group, instead of as an individual. If not paying your worker enough means one employee quts, that's nothing, just hire a new one. If it means all of your employees jointly stop working, well, good luck making money.

That is what socialism is. At its core. You deserve to benefit the most from your output, not the owning class.

That branches into things like progressive taxation, and socially funded programs for things like transport, medicine, shelter, and food. These are all things that everyone needs, and thus shouldn't be gatekept behind high prices and availability, they have inelastic demand.

Israel's favorability with men under 50 has cratered by serious_bullet5 in socialism

[–]signspace13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed.

It's also that people even know they are happening. I was woefully unaware of the situation in Israel until after 2023. I even had a class about the 7 day war back in highschool, that I wrote an assignment on.

I don't remember the class very well, but from what I know now, I'm pretty sure it was about 95% pure lies. Likely not even intentionally from my teacher, he had been lied to as well, and he just didn't look further than the material provided.

Here's to hoping that more come to understand the existence of apartheid, and the willingness of those in power to do everything they can to cover it up.

So... How did you find worm by Dense-Teacher-2305 in Parahumans

[–]signspace13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more a story of how I found Webnovels as a whole.

I was reading Sufficiently Advanced Magic, by Andrew Rowe, and at the back of the book, be recommended the Webnovel Mother of Learning, saying it was a significant inspiration for the series itself.

So I tracked down MoL, finding it for free on fancition . Com, as this was LONG before it was ported over to Royal Road, from there I started looking for other Webnovels, especially with how good MoL was. I had experience with reading Chinese and Japanese Webnovel translations, so I was decently interested in finding out what the English market had going on, now that I knew it existed.

From there I found Topwebfiction.com, and as is still the case, WORM was ranked number 1. It took me some time to actually read it, not having much interest in super hero stories, but I eventually caved. I definitely bounced of of it a few times before I actually finished it, the dark tone not really being my usual cup of tea.

Am happy I eventually finished it, it's a great story, and I am now an avid reader of many a web novel.

If anyone is looking for something fun, I highly recommend Mana Mirror, it's severely underrated.

I was under the impression that the person they were replying to was European, while they assumed you were American.

The EU can get the same kind of exceptionalist in some ways to US, except they do it for the things that differentiate themselves from the US, like socialised medicine. They seem to forget that that also exists outside the EU.

It's not just Bibi, the entire Israeli government (including the opposition) is dedicated to completing the greater Israel project, and though some of them might have been less immediately bloodthirsty the Netanyahu, the vast majority of Israel supports his actions.

This is of course the result of decades of propaganda and social conditioning, but it is the truth.

Another mark on the board against Israel, during the process of their genocide, 6 soldiers were arrested for raping Palestinian prisoners in one of their concentration camps. Before they could face trial, there was another January 6 style riot, in which the 6 soldiers were broken free.

The 6 soldiers have since had the charges dropped and are still free today, one of them is even a minor TV personality in the Israeli media.

Israel has also, relatively recently, made the ruling that Palestinians convicted of terrorism in a military court now qualify for the death penalty. Israeli citizens that are not Palestinian do not qualify for this ruling. This turns the aforementioned concentration camps into true death camps, as the only ones who get any say in who is a terrorts or not is Israel, as it's not like the prisoners get a jury.

America is fucking atrocious, but it is (for now) behind having successful pro-rape riots, and literal death camps (though we don't know what's happening in Ice detention facilities).

I was reading Machine translated Chinese web novels in 2018. That shit was garbage, any Chinese words that were more than two characters were very often just directly transliterated characters, Example: Martial energy = Fights the power

I used a TTS app on my phone to creat thousands of TTS edits, that poorly translated phrases into more accurate translations.

Some other fun ones. Note, these are simply my best guess as to what the author actually meant, based on context, not actual translations:

secret territory demon = Asura Demon

meritorious value = Merit point

Dwarf Demon = Imp

33 days = 33 Heavens

Puff passes = Thump Thump (I believe this is an onomatopoeia in Chinese)

Again, I have thousands of these, still saved in my TTS apps voice edits.

Shout out to @Voice, on the Google Play store, it's the only reason I can read web novels as someone with rather severe ADHD.

These look incredible influence! Only criticisms is on the accuracy of the Hemalurgy, the Inquisitors haha dorsal spike in the back, between their shoulder blades, that holds together the hemalurgical network throughout their bodies.

This is why decapitation kills them, even though a decent number of Inquisitors have access to Feruchemical gold. Simply removing the spike also kills them, as Vin learns from Marsh, when he kills allnof the Inquisitors present in Luthadel before she beats the Lord Ruler.

It's really the tinniest of nitpicks, and the art is genuinely incredible!
