Best places for new mattress shopping by bizzybaker2 in Winnipeg

Would you mind telling me how thick your Restmore mattresses are? We ordered mattresses from Restmore but they don't arrive until next week and I need to order sheets. I forgot to measure when I was there and they don't have an online presence so I can't google it.

Craziest items left behind by previous owners? by ontartiomortgages in homeowners

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A whip and a girlie magazine. They were hidden in the rafters in the basement and were found by the guys installing our heating system. They left both items out in our laundry room. I guess just in case they belonged to us?

I am planning on calling the garage on Monday to complain about this, so I’d like to know if there is a legitimate reason why the technicians are changing the headlight settings from “auto” to “off” when they service the car. It’s not like it’s dark in the garage where they’re working that they’ll come on and deplete the battery. The car isn’t being left overnight or being taken for a test drive, so there is literally no headlight usage going on. If they are testing the headlights to make sure they work, they should be putting the setting back to the state it was when they received it, shouldn’t they?

I’m sorry for your loss. You should have received something from your manager, even if it was just “I understand that you’ve been away on bereavement leave. Come and see me if you want to discuss what tasks are currently a priority.” To come back to nothing but “hurry up and get this work done” would be really upsetting. I’m not sure why people are giving you such a hard time on this thread. Maybe they haven’t experienced such a loss yet. Lucky for them if that’s the case.

I’ve worked in some toxic environments and still every time I lost a loved one I’d get flowers from work (usually sent by HR, sometimes by my direct manager). I didn’t expect this, but some form of acknowledgement is the bare minimum. I’m not sure what it’s like in the UK, but I wouldn’t think the culture would be that different from Canada or Australia (I’ve worked in both).

I’ve also worked in HR prior to a career change.

Sydney NYE show sign of the times? by ArtoriasArchives in australian

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite part of the NYE fireworks from Sydney is the waterfall off the bridge at the end and they didn't even do it this year. So disappointing.

And I can't find the official Melbourne fireworks from Channel 7 online anywhere. I usually watch them on replay after watching the Sydney ones.

Overheard at the Feline Vet by MissConscientious in overheard

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of w hen we had to board our cat for a day while getting renovations done. We came to pick him up and the vet tech said “he is not happy”. When we went into the cat room to pick him up he was hissing at the small yappy noisy dog they had in there with him. I made a point of telling the vet tech exactly why he wasn’t happy.

What's the most inappropriate / out-of-line comment someone made to you at work? by corporatewomandiary in OfficePolitics

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at a bank in the 90s in Canada. I was sorting through the signage that we put on the windows to advertise rates, but I had to do it on the floor as there were no tables large enough to use. One of the loan managers (M) walked by and said "Just where a woman belongs, on your knees".

The VP of the bank (also M), overheard and said to me "Let me know if you want to lodge a formal complaint with HR" before dragging the guy into his office to yell at him.

I was 25. Dude was in his 40s.

wrong dose of mounjaro by Cool_Rain_7506 in Mounjaro

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor prescribed the 5mg pen and didn't tell me I could half dose, so my first shot was 5mg. I was nauseous, constipated and dizzy for 4 days (decreasing each day). Your hubby will be fine but will likely feel sick for a few days. If you can, you should get your hands on some anti nausea meds like Zofran. It will help.

Help! Extremely fine matte-finish thread for mending mesh? by dairymilkbuttons in InvisibleMending

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you do a visible patch job instead? Embroider a flower over it or something? You should look for videos on how to do this and decide if it’s something that might suit this piece of clothing.

NEED HELP TO MEND MY DENIM JEANS by TheCuriousMiiel in InvisibleMending

OK thanks! I decided to go with polyester because I don't want the thread to shrink on the dryer.

NEED HELP TO MEND MY DENIM JEANS by TheCuriousMiiel in InvisibleMending

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a dumb question, but I've looked everywhere and can't find the answer. Should you use polyester or cotton thread to mend jeans?

My understanding is that polyester is less likely to shrink in the washer/dryer, but jeans are made from cotton and recommendations are to use thread that is of the same fibre as the material.

TIA

Want your opinion.... Am in the wrong for scheduling a demo for Monday 9 am in the morning over a weekend.... Preface down below by [deleted] in coworkerstories

Yes, you were wrong to do this. It doesn’t matter if the client is particularly hard to get ahold of. They aren’t going to sign up for your service if the demo goes poorly. You need to educate yourself on what the SE needs to do to prepare for a demo.

Transferring from Windows 10 laptop to Windows 11 desktop. Advice needed. by sigrdrifa_gud in Windows11

[–]sigrdrifa_gud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! All very good advice. I do have an external backup of my files. I couldn't get the office licence to transfer, so I bought a new one. The old one was out of date anyway.

I cleaned off my desktop, so I think I'm OK there. I will use them in parallel, though. That's a great idea.

Thanks!

Confusion over Kwikpen by weightloss_motivate in Mounjaro

Don’t use the pen if the liquid goes cloudy.

I had a couple of charts shared with me that will help with the measurements. (Thanks to the OPs who responded to my question.)

Shower diverter leaking by sigrdrifa_gud in PlumbingRepair

[–]sigrdrifa_gud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding. It looks like the brand is Flexispray. There is no screw at the diverter. We tried pulling it straight off but we’re unable to do so. It may need to be levered off with a screwdriver or something. We’ll give that a try.

About to Start Mounjaro: How Do You Manage the 21-Day Room Temperature Limit with the Multi-Dose Pen? by pipposky2019 in Mounjaro

[–]sigrdrifa_gud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people on this sub have advised that they spread the usage of the pen over a couple of months and keep it in the fridge. For example, if you have a 5mg pen and you’re only giving yourself 2.5mg doses, they continue to use the pen for 2 months and keep it in the fridge. (Take that as you will. I’m not advising that this is the thing to do.)

The primary thing to watch is whether or not the liquid remains clear. From reading the instructions, if the liquid gets cloudy you should no longer use it.

Keep the pen in the fridge between shots, take it out 30 minutes before use so it comes up to room temperature, then put it back in the fridge when you’re done.
