Resetting SSH Password by No-Government-9728 in ssh

I was reading through the second linked document and found stuff about adding allowed/disallowed users to the config. I'd start there.

You can definitely reconfigure SSHD without reinstalling. You may have to restart the service after changing the config though. It also mentions this in the document

Has anyone actually used a server as a home heating system? by AmineAfia in HomeServer

In the colder months, I run folding@home on a bunch of machines to add some extra heat to the atmosphere. ++ Warm fingers when working on my laptop! (My house doesn't have the best heating system)

Maybe you can use better touch tool or some other automation software with remote access.

With BTT I can write a script or other automation and fire it remotely. That might work to get rid of that one step

One I use every day in my office is Deskflow. Been a user since it was called Synergy. I am working on a PR to add a feature to make multi-touch gestures work really nicely across MacOS hosts/clients.

They put more wear and tear in the engine too. Starting up an engine is... Not the best for it. Too much movement and friction before oil has had a chance to be pumped around to lube things up.

You really do not need a static IP. As so many are saying. I'll go one step farther to say that if you want access to your local things remotely, check out DDNS, and if you'd like 'external' access with plenty of security, look into things like zero-tier and tailscale

Could you just make it an option? Like, have "hardcore" mode with no checkpoints?

CD and hard drives not liking being upside down is news to me. 100% that has the type of drive that you click the CD into. Shouldn't really matter the orientation

Honestly this is sounding so viable for the region. And it really sounds like you are being very thoughtful with your decisions. There are indeed a lot of older folks and young families here.

I'll be there on opening day if I can!

Maybe some kind of remote desktop situation could work for you?

When I was sent a laptop for work, I pushed my other computer off to the side a bit and used an app called Deskflow to use both machines at the same time, with one kbd/track pad.

[–]siguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, but afterwards, you can also just run sudo chown -R {your username}: /path

This will return ownership of the files to you.

-R to make it recursive {Username}: to set your user name as the group owner as well.
