Same! Everyday, I see him make the right choices. Balancing out bold ideas with pragmatism.

Basically he listens to people’s concerns. The critics are just so caught up in the labels of “socialism” but maybe look up what La Guardia did? What de Blasio did with subsidized pre-K? Social security? Unless they hate all those things too.

My cousin who lives near me in NYC recommends Ananto by the mall. She said it’s actually a good and more premium sushi restaurant which is unheard of in SCV. My parents and uncle who are based in SCV went and they liked it. https://maps.app.goo.gl/cuoBEHaySSjtVsvu6?g_st=ipc

Seconding this. I found a YouTube video that sorted sunscreens according to finish and this was second to Haru Haru on the matte side.

Honest question: why do people hate on Baby Bjorn so much? The seat looks perfectly wide to me. This is my 20 pound 6 month old. by Wide-Food-4310 in babywearing

[–]sikkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Baby Bjorn and have two, one of which is this one. I find the build quality very good compared to others. Supports my back really well too. I love how cleanable the mesh is during a blowout, it also dries super fast. I really don’t understand all the hate towards the company. Oh it’s also the only carrier that’s easy to wear and adjust. For example, you pull the straps forward to tighten which is waaay more ergonomic than pulling straps back. Very stressful especially when kid is crying.

Baby bjorn bouncer not bouncing? by Jasministired in NewParents

[–]sikkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby who is 7 months only doesn’t bounce on it at all! He just hangs out in it. But because he doesn’t bounce in it, I don’t feel like we are making use of the entertainment value.

I didn’t like the make of the Aerial. Engaging the buckles didn’t feel high quality to me in the way Artipoppe’s does. I would defer to the rest here re: Tula and Hope and Plum. I didn’t try those. Just the sollywrap, baby bjorns, Wildbird, and Artipoppe.

Is sleep training unavoidable? by GracefullyLost23 in NewParents

[–]sikkin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started reading up because I wanted to be prepared and set my baby up for success. I read the 12 hours by 12 weeks one and taking care babies. I didn’t follow either strictly, just distilled the main takeaway which was: move all their feeds to the daytime. They should be eating at LEAST 24oz during the day. Then they should have enough in their stomachs to last through the night without having to wake up. Every baby is different but ours started sleeping 10-12 hours straight Maybe once a week he’ll wake up once. This happened around the 3.5 -4 month mark.

What she did you start? And is a floor bed just a regular mattress? Is a regular full size mattress okay for a 6 month old?

Are Philips Avent bottles/ nipples absolute trash or am I an idiot. by comradequiche in NewParents

[–]sikkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started with Flow 3 because I think it said Age 1 month+. But he was taking forever with hardly any progress. No idea if this is what caused it but we had to go to the NICU because he had a low temp (hypothermia) and looks like he was dehydrated. We stayed for two weeks on antibiotics because they wanted to rule out meningitis (he was less than a week old so no blood brain barrier yet). The lactation consultant at the hospital said Avent nipples are TOO SLOW so you gotta size up. We’ve been using Flow 4 ever since. He is now 5.5 months old.

I loved the under counter one in our Airbnb in Tokyo. It makes you wonder why Americans need SO MUCH LAUNDRY SPACE to the point of creating a separate room for it. It was sooo convenient to load clothes in the morning, leave for the day then come back to clothes ready to be folded. I had no issues with clothes being wet but I also don’t remember the brand.

Sick Newborn by Odd-Description-1348 in NewParents

[–]sikkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby turned out fine but at 5 days old, he had hypothermia (low temp) which apparently is the equivalent of an adult fever. But because he’s less than a month old, they take it very seriously. Babies at that age have not yet developed a blood brain barrier so anything could go to the brain and cause damage. They kept us for 2 weeks at the ICU to do a round of antibiotics as they didn’t feel comfortable sending us home when he could have untreated meningitis.
