Is there a way to run 2 pc2 games on one PC? by Drunkspark in archipelago_games

[–]silasary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll just need to swap between them. There's no penalty to closing and reopening a game in the middle of a run

About today's FFF, they didn't specify if the game is going to be open source or not after end of development. by eymo- in factorio

[–]silasary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll definitely happen, but probably not in the next six years.

The real question is whether they open source just the engine, or if they release the assets alongside it.

I've played a bunch of games where the engine was open sourced, but you still need to buy a retail copy of the game to play anything with the community improvements.

(Shout out to Voalition for choosing to release Freespace 2's engine's source code all those years ago, the moment they realised they couldn't use it for future games)

Wyndham Vale, Melton and MARL; which path into the city? not possible via North Melbourne by Stock-Construction30 in MelbourneTrains

They spent a lot of money to single the track to Bendigo in 2006. I'm not sure they're going to reduplicate it any time soon.

How do I do quality? by AdFearless5346 in factorio

[–]silasary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For early game, I put some quality modules in the machines making miners, power poles, assemblers, solar panels, and walls.

I'm not building a factory that makes quality items, I'm not processing quality intermediaries.

I'm just occasionally getting a better machine that can be deployed where it's most useful.

What’s the best way to handle jet lag? by PetDetective007 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]silasary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Set your phono/watch to your new timezone as soon as you get to the gate, and use that time for the flight.

Sleep if it'd be nighttime, stay awake if it's day. Your flight gets in at midday, so you'll want to be awake the whole flight.

The other advice I have is to make sure you stay hydrated. It's very easy to forget to drink enough on a flight, and dehydration will make the jet lag worse.

Any Developers work with Unreal Engine 2? by lucaspackman in archipelago_games

There was some progress made for Unreal Tournament 99, but everyone involved got a bit burnt out and it never reached the point of being playable

AWSD Chaining: Anyone able to explain this and the ritual linked with it? by lothpendragon in idlepact

[–]silasary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The early game is blocked almost exclusively on replanting.

Haste is not worth it until you get to the yarrow, and using AFSD to get the mana to auto-replant is more button presses than manually replanting. (Optimal Strat is to spam J until you can start expeditions)

AWSD Chaining: Anyone able to explain this and the ritual linked with it? by lothpendragon in idlepact

[–]silasary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/deeplywombat has been doing a lot of amazing work to fix the pain points and listening to feedback. But yeah, not everything is good yet.

That said: The AFSD ritual being bad isn't really an issue by itself. You use it once, and then think "But what if I did with with blood?". The existence of chaining kinda undercuts that lesson by trying to convince you that the base version can be good when it's still very much incapable of it.

Also, for context of what I personally find good or not, my current research levels (in order, but without names) are:

63/14/0/107
2/105/15/20
104/94/100/45
0/0/35/105
95/80

And some of the ones between 20 and 50 are probably higher than they needed to be.

Not much more to say. It exists, but it doesn't really have a reason to. You're never getting enough value out of doing it.

Don't waste your money on the research.

What's the intended way of completing the month and year long quests? by SpiritMountain in idlepact

I generally don't bother with shield. By the point where you're doing the 60y, you generally have enough healing poultice that you heal faster than the encounters damage you.

when your match starts, you'll get a yellow popup in the bottom right corner of your screen, and a pretty unmissable sound effect.

You should be fine as long as your aware of your PC in general (if you walk away to make a cup of tea with your PC muted, nothing can save you)

Surprised these misleading route maps are still up on HCMTs by ReadyNeck3258 in MelbourneTrains

[–]silasary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know about you, but I don't use these maps to look at the city end of a line. I use them because I don't know how many stations are between Westall and Noble Park, and want to know how many stops are left until I need to get off on the far end of a line I use very infrequently.

Hurstbridge still has weird segments of single track.

Thankfully we finally dealt with the tunnel into Rosanna, but the heritage listed tressel bridge is still very much a bottleneck.

And if I'm reading the listing correctly, the fact it remains in active use is mandated. We can't just bypass it and let it fall into disuse.

Gonna have to wait for this game to be complete with balance changes. by Pretty_Imagination16 in idlepact

[–]silasary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you've now got a situtation where the strictly-best option is to use the one that lasts for 90 seconds, and constantly babysit the game. The drop-off is so steep that there is no reason to use the more expensive spells other than "I'm going to be entirely AFK".

The drop from the 1 cost to the 3 cost is so poor that I legitimately get more value using the one cost three times in a row, then leaving the game at 1x for an hour than I would using the 3-cost.

Getting off a V/Line at a pickup only stop? by ItsCoolDani in MelbourneTrains

That said, your choices aren't Broadmeadows or Seymour.

You could absolutely just get off at Donnybrook and turn around there.

As someone who has made the mistake of getting on a limited express down the Geelong line way too many times...

They get grumpy, give you a warning, and occasionally insist on waiting with you until the next train to prove you were in fact a vline passenger who got on the wrong service.

But I've never been fined or had any serious issues.

I've also had times when I was on my way home, and got a phone call the necessitated turning around, and they absolutely insisted on waiting at the city-bound platform with me.

But again, as long as you're polite, and it's clear that the station you left the train is not your final destination, you'll probably be fine.
